Meet Me In The Kitchen!!

When the hubs works a lot, I cook more.
I have been making a lot of my tried and true dishes that I have posted here in the past,
but I did try a few new recipes that I'll share with you today.

Swedish Meatballs with Noodles
I found this recipe on Facebook and it is also on Pinterest here.
This was good, I thought it was a little bland but the hubs loved it.

Here's another one I found on Facebook...

Pretzel Crusted Chicken Fingers
with honey mustard dipping sauce.
I served them with roasted new and red potatoes and a salad.
A video for making the chicken fingers can be found here.

One last good one was a...

Homemade Mac and Cheese

I printed out the recipe and I can't remember where I found it.

2 cups uncooked macaroni
1 can (10 ounces) cheddar cheese soup
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup sour crean
1/4 cup cubed butter
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded fontina cheese
1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Have you read about this trick...
a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water and it won't spill over, it works.

Using the same pot to cook the pasta and make the creamy cheese sauce,
made clean up a breeze for this one.

I made this for my great nieces, I was babysitting and I wanted to bring dinner with me.
I also brought caesar salad that they didn't touch, but the Mac and Cheese was a big hit!

My niece Dean-na and hubby Anthony had a date night.
I try to gift this to them every so often, but I don't do it often enough!!

Lovely to 'meet you in the kitchen' Debbie ...
I love the tip / trick about 'a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water and it won't spill over, it works.'

I'm so pleased your Mac and Cheese was a big hit - that is a nice gift to your niece and her hubby - as it's not always easy to have a date night when you have little-uns.

Enjoy your Friday

All the best Jan

It all looks great, but the pretzel coated chicken fingers and potatoes are right up my alley. My kids still love homemade mac and cheese (and they're alot older than your nieces), but I've never seen it made with cheese soup. Interesting.

You just make me want to go in the kitchen and start cooking......oh geez, what did I just say. Not. I don't cook much anymore. But, that sure did make me want to.

Yes, I have heard about the wooden spoon and so far it's worked for me, and I'm thinking I learned it through blogging! Best place to gather genius ideas right. I just know after your hubby has put in long hours coming home to one of your meals makes it all wonderful again! Enjoy your weekend.

Yum to all three. I finally made meatballs for the first time the other day, and they were actually good. LOL

That's so nice of you to babysit, and I'm sure they appreciate it so much, Debbie.

Aren't you sweet to watch your nieces so they can have a date night, and to bring dinner too, wow! My hubby so loves homemade mac and cheese, ever since he has had trouble with gluten I haven't made it, he says it isn't the same with the gluten free noodles.

You are sweet to babysit for them; what a great gift of love. Thanks for sharing your culinary skills and recipes. I love the wooden spoon idea; I will try that one for sure. The macaroni and cheese recipe looks so good. I will try this one on my grandchildren. Blessings and hugs for this one!
