it's what's for dinner!!
Here it is, hands down, my favorite crock pot recipe of all time.
If you don't have a slow cooker,
go buy one and make these short ribs...
they are divine and you can thank me later!!
Here's my baby...
The ingredient line-up.
And if you're like me, I get so excited,
I cut up all the veggies the night before and store them in a zip lock.
In the morning...
I do a veggie dump and add my spices.
Last year, I started browning the meat in the broiler,
it's much quicker, cleaner and easier.
I've always hated the greasy mess browning meat leaves on the stove-top.
Once browned, they top the veggies,
add the liquids and a bay leaf.
All that's left to do, smell your amazing house all. day. long.
When the ribs are done,
I switch the slow cooker to the keep warm setting.
I remove about 2 cups of the liquid from the crock pot,

and place it into a sauce pan.
I add some spices, if needed, flour, water,
and a pat or two of butter to shine it up.
Whatever you would normally add to make brown gravy.
I did add a splash of gravy master as well.
At the same time I "light a fire" under these bad boys,
red skins, my favorites.
Here they are, all whipped up and looking beautiful.
Butter, heavy cream and salt,
that's all you need for these yummy mashed potatoes.

you should all be interested and yes, I should have "plated" this differently.
Those are banging big plates!!

My goodness! That's a good looking meal!
Now that looks tasty and it can't get much easier! I will be adding this to my list of recipes to make in the days ahead! Thanks for sharing! Looks yummy!
Oh my! We would love these. I used my slow cooker for a brisket over the weekend and it was so good. You're making me hungry! Hungry hugs, Diane
you go with your cooking self!
We LOVE short ribs in our house. I'll have to send you the recipe we love.
Debbie, your ribs sound and look delicious... Thanks for sharing your recipe.. I will have to try this one.. Have a happy day!
Oh gee whiz my mouth is just watering. Mostly too not just seeing your lovely, incredible- make my tummy roar photos, but hubby and I are having a crock-pot meal tonight too, and I can already smell it, and I haven't put it all together yet! We're due for an icy-turn to troublesome snowfall today, and coming home to the aroma of food already cooking is so necessary today! Bravo on the delicious post Debbie, enjoy.
ohhhhhh I wish I could cook with onions. My poor wife has no taste bud imagination. I once put too much pepper on the chicken and she broke into tears.
I love short ribs, and I adore my slow cooker. It'll be working up a storm tomorrow! Everything looks so yummy on that plate!
Those look so yummie!
Hi Debbie
I do the same in my crock pot all through winter!
I must say your presentation platter makes them look super duper!
Ahh but it's mid summer here where I am, down under so this is a treat in store for me in months to come!
I saw some of your beautiful bird photos on an older post.
I'm following you now as I love photography too - I'm looking to buy a new camera DSLR - any suggestions. My Lumix Point & Shoot has served me well the last few years and now I feel it's time for a big girl's camera!

Good golly- when's supper? YUM!
Yum! I will have to try this! I cook my ribs in the crockpot also, just using a little water in the bottom, and covering the ribs with bar-b-que sauce and honey. No veggies. This recipe sounds great.
I'm drooling!
I love short ribs.............thank you for this recipe.....................
Those look fantastic! We'll have to try them!
This all looks so good!
Hello, Debbie!
Both your cooking and photography look really professional!
And the recipe sounds just delicious! :)
It's funny I thought of you last night as I scooped my goodies out of our crock-pot and wash thinking after I made the gravy everything looks so perfect, and then hubby walked in. He was starved, no time for my shooting moments. Next time!
Oh my, oh my OH MY! Yes, I am drooling. My husband would love this and so would I :) Definitely going to try this, my friend. Thanks for sharing at Roses of Inspiration. Hugs!
Oh goodness, I'm so enjoying your meal by proxy!! It all looks divine and I do love your dinner plate too :D)
Oh, I love this! I just bought a crock pot that can be turned on from the office via my phone. Right!!?! This recipe cooks long enough that I could start it in the morning - yummy. My husband thanks you in advance!
I can't wait to try this recipe Debbie, thanks for sharing. I love my old crockpot but did buy a new one recently. My old one is like 20 years old but have noticed that the potatoes and carrots are not cooked through enough for my liking, in fact they are still hard. I read on a food blog that some ladies were having similar problems from reading her comment section. It turned out that their crockpots were older than five years. Well, that did it! I figured it was time to buy a new one, which I did. Next time I make a meal that included potatoes and carrots, it is getting its maiden voyage :)
I so wished I was invited to dinner; this looks so yummy. It is a keeper I can tell. I love your picture tutorial; awesome. Blessings and hugs for you dear friend.
Thanks for sharing that wonderful recipe! Perfect on a cold, winter Sunday! Yum!
I found it! I found it! Just what I was looking for, you knew that didn't you? :)
Now I'm going to write down the recipe, and hope that for once my grocer
has those bad boys. :)
Thank you, thank you.
xoxo
Oh, and you know what else? Your plates match my canisters! So, I'll send you my address. :)
xoxo
Debbie i just wanted to thank you for this recipe. I browned the meat in the oven as you did cut up my veg & had it already for the slow cooker the next morning. This is the first time i ever had short ribs. I cook for my aging parents almost every night & take to their house. We all thought is was so delicious.
So glad you enjoyed them Karen, I have not made them in a while. Thanks for reminding me, I need to make them again!! The next time it rains, I love a good crock pot meal on a rainy day!!
