I know their call...
Two whistled notes, the first higher then the second,
to my ear, it sounds like "feed me"...and feed them I do!!
It is the Black Capped Chickadee
They visit year round and are the friendliest bird that comes to the feeders.
They rarely fly away when I sit and watch them...
they pose beautifully for the camera...
and rarely allow a branch to come between them and my lens.
They sing for treats...
and take off slowly, to allow for a picture.
They are just the sweetest little birds, dressed for winter...
don't you just love their jet black caps?

Beautiful little birds. They look like my great tit but my birds have yellow bellies. These birds like to pose.
Wonderful pictures :) Greetings :)
They are gorgeous little birds! I am wanting to see a bird, just any bird that will give me a sign that spring is coming.
I love the way they bob through the air when they are flying. Great photos.
Adorable shots of your Black-capped Chickadee. They have you trained well..feed me! HAHA!
Have a great evening!
Awesome shots, Debbie! I love the second to last! We have the Carolina version, but they might as well be one in the same.
Oh what a beautiful bird; I love their jet black capes. As I think about it; I miss the sound of birds singing. I haven't seen many around here. I hope to see more in the spring because you have helped me want to look a little closer to the birds and other of our feathered creatures. We really enjoyed watching the sweet little birds that made a nest in our tree last year. I did get some pictures and posted on them. Your pictures are magnificent.
Blessings and hugs!
Their wingspan is simply breathtaking - like a handmade Asian fan!
Yes! I do love them! We had disease go through here years ago that wiped out our Chickadee population, but they are slowly recovering. I'm glad because I love them so!
Great pictures...adorable birdie!
He looks so cute and hungry. I am sure a little confused by the cold again.

We just learned about these in bird class last night. They are friendly little critters and cute as can be. Love your shots; so crisp!
I love chickadees and, in fact, they are the State Bird of Massachusetts. They don't seem to mind being around people. I guess they know that they are just so adorable who would want to hurt them. Great pics!!

a kiss.
I do love chickadees and you've captured this one beautifully.
