Saturday Critters ~ 241 ~

- let's hear it for the girls -

Last week I shared the boys, this week it is the girls turn.

First up, the Female Goldfinch

Next, the Female Downey Woodpecker

And last, the often overlooked Female House Finch

Even though they are not as pretty as the boys,
there is something very sweet and special about my girls!

hi kim...the female goldfinch is a softer, more muted yellow than the male...i don't know if that is the same where you are!! she is beautiful and she is more tolerable of me than he!!!!

Hello, your girls are just lovely! My favourite shot is the third one of the Woodpecker.
She has pretty feathers. Amazing how many types of woodpeckers exist!
Thanks for sharing.

I love your girls! The only one of those you featured that we have in our backyard is the finch and we have a lot of those!

These are gorgeous! Fantastic perches, too! I think the muted colors of the females are just as pretty as the brightly colored boys.

They are beautiful, I haven't seen the yellow finches with blue on them. When it got so hot here I haven't put out the suet and all my woodpeckers left, I am so bummed. Hope your enjoying a nice weekend!

I think birds are the only species of living things where the males are prettier than the females. I wonder why?

Excellent bird photos!

Love these pictures! Honestly, I could sit and look at a book of your bird pictures for hours! the pretty goldfinch is my favorite for today, love her color and the softness/downiness of her feathers! Hope y'all had a lovely weekend! We walked, some in the rain, some out, did a few small house cleaning/maintenance chores, and watched a little tv. Mr.Front Porch mowed and trimmed and worked on the yard.
