Fun in the Sun!!

Today was our first day at the beach,
after Super Storm Sandy!

There wasn't a wave in sight,
but we did see lot's of newly formed sand bars,

and we found lot's of beautiful sea glass.

I'm not sure if I have ever "felt" a calmer ocean.
This local fisherman wasn't catching anything,
he told me "the ocean is dead".
That must be fisherman lingo for the fish aren't biting!

The ocean here in Spring Lake, looks just like a lake.

Here are the two "finds" of the day,
one red & one rose colored piece of sea glass.

The boardwalks are all gone,

These concrete support structures are dated 1937.

It is so sad to see all the benches and boards piled up by the street.

She was just beautiful today and I enjoyed every, single, second!

Red seaglass again!!! You must be the luckiest person in the world. I can't believe how calm the ocean was. I love the picture with the fisherman. The boardwalk shots make me so sad.

the sparkling water is just beautiful. if you hadn't shown the boardwalk piers, one would never guess the devastation.

Debbie, you deserve a nice sunny day. Love the beach shots, it is sad to see the boardwalk gone. They will rebuilt right?

It is very beautiful. It will be rebuilt I am sure. Your sea glass is so pretty. It is so pretty that it doesn't look like there ever was a storm. Such a beautiful day and your pictures are as well.

That water looks so peaceful and gentle. It is hard to believe that only a short time ago it was a devastating creature.

It's sort of mixed feelings....on one side, you see things you didn't see before and more is exposed. But then, there are the things that are gone and that you miss. :( I guess it's all perspective, eh?

The fish will come back. And so will the boardwalks.

The ocean looks so beautiful, calm and peaceful. It's hard to imagine that it could cause so much destruction. I'm glad you went to the beach and found so much beach glass. Red is hard to find.

Beautiful shots! I really like the first one with the lone bird and the one of the fisherman! It's hard to imagine the destruction from looking at these photos.

Mother Nature certainly has some high and low mood swings... it looked like she was quite calm today.
Lovely photos of the shore... thanks, Debbie

You are right, the ocean looks like a inland lake. No waves, that is so strange. I'm betting sounding much different than you are used to also!! Love your red sea glass!!!

Hi Debbie..the power of the waters can be so scary and amazing at the same time!! Every year when I go to this one beach it changes with new sand bars, and washes away the sea walls !!
It is a shame that yours is disheveled about, and never be the same !!
Love sea glass, most of what I have found is the deep blue, aqua, greens, brown and I have found some pink!! yeah for you with the red : )
Hope your days are calm!

It's hard to see photos of the destruction wrought by Sandy when looking at these beach scenes, Debbie. Sad to see the boardwalk gone.

Your photos remind me of mine of the Outer Banks. It is sad to see storm damage in the places we hold dear.
Your photos are beautiful!

& I enjoy every single second of your pictures!!! - well, the ocean - NOT the destruction ;- Didn't realize it was a federal works project that had put in the boards in the first place!
