Grounds for Sculpture

I have always longed to visit
It's on the bucket list each Spring - Summer but we have never been.
The hubs was not as enthusiastic about visiting as I was
but he always goes along with anything I want to do.
Expected high temperatures on Saturday were to be in the 70's, that would be perfect.
We did some research, made the drive, only 45 minutes...so far, so good.
We arrived at the grounds and they directed us to park in the parking lot furthest from the
Welcome Center,
even though I have a handi-capped placard.
Once we realized that, I got out of the car and told the attendant I would be in need of a scooter,
he looked to be about 10 years old and I got no where with him.
I happened to glance at the car thermometer that gives the outside temperature
and it read 92 degrees.
I got a feeling...you know that feeling, get back in the car and go home.
But oh no, not me, I'm a trooper and I pushed on.
Next, on the way to the visitors center, we passed one of their cool sculptures,
I was tired, ALREADY...there was shade...
so I thought it would be a good spot to stop and snap a picture.

I posed for this picture and a bird shit all over me.
If you are wondering if I left, I didn't, now I was more determined than ever
that we were going to have a nice day.

The hubs posed, no bird poop for him...
and the rest of the day went something like that.
I do have a ton of pictures...
tomorrow, no story, just pictures...I do think you will enjoy them!!

I am adding a little p.s. today after reading some of your comments.
I have heard the theory about bird poop bringing good luck.
It wasn't just the blessing from above,
it was the sum of all things that made me think staying here was not such a good idea.

Good for you carrying on; I just hope you didn't over-do it.

I had that happen in Daytona on the beach; just sittin' there with my friend having a Kahlua and cream-yep birds pooped right in my glass. Do you think I went ahead and finished it? I'll let you guess. LOL

Hi Debbie!:) What an interesting place to visit. Debbie, if a bird poops on you, it's believed to bring good luck, because the odds of it happening to YOU, are like one in a billion, which is more rare than winning the lottery!!!:))

Hello Debbie, I am glad you were able to cross another place off your summer bucket list. The Ground for Sculpture looks wonderful, great shots of you and your hubs. I heard you are supposed to have good luck when a bird poops on you. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!

Grounds for Sculpture looks a great and interesting place to visit. I did had a bird poop on me. Wiped it off and cleaned up and continued to do what I was doing. Both photos are lovely!

Sounded as if you had enough energy for a great day out Debbie and didn't need the scotor which was great.

Small price to pay for being in the middle of such art.

I have to admit, I giggled a little. But probably because I know those days all too well. I have to check out the sculpture garden. I've heard about it but have never been there.

I am so glad you stuck it out. I hate that so much when that happens!! It bet it was hot if it was 92 out there. I am glad you came home with funny stories though.

What a rude bird. I was at first going to say you stopped at the right place. At least you got some good pictures.

I admire your determination, I probably wouldn't have even gone in the first place, Greg has gone on a few little trips since we have been back from Michigan but not me it is just too HOT out there for me. To top it off bird poo on you, oh man I would have just said see that is my sign I shouldn't be here, LOL, can you see my negativity coming through. For all of that you look great in the photo

I had a seagull poop on me some years back ... people just kept telling me it's a sign of luck - all right for them to say it, but none too pleasing if it does happen to you !!!

I do like your photo's.

All the best Jan

Too bad about the huge mistake in temperature! Aside from the parking attendant and the naughty bird, it looks like a great place to visit. The sculptures are impressive.

Looks like a fun place to visit, but the bird poop certainly didn't make a positive impression. I had not heard that it is supposed to bring good luck.
