Christmas Lights

Every year, since the boys were little,
we would set aside one night of the Christmas Season
to drive around town,
and look at all the "Christmas Lights"!!

The hubs and I still go each Christmas Season,
I always thought we enjoyed it more then the boys did.

So grab a cup of hot coco and a warm blanket
and you can ride along with us!!

Our town has a contest, this house won first place!

This house was on the same street and I liked it better!

 This house won second place,

 it was really beautiful!

This house was next door and I thought it was lovely as well,
you have to enter the contest to place and
I am assuming they did not enter!

Such a beautiful home as well, I really liked these colorful light!

This display was in the front of those last two homes...

a cute couple ice skating, with their little ones.

A horse and carriage, I really liked these pretty clear lights.

This house was extremely festive, do you see Santa in the front window?!

This house won third place, it was very pretty.

The hubs stayed in the car eating cupcakes,
as I ran around taking pictures.
He was prepared to take off without me, if I got caught!

What in the world is he thinking, my bail money is in the glove box.

I tend to be a white lights gal, but that home in the 6th shot (beautiful with or without lights!) has done something with colorful lights that I think is really, really pretty! And I love the skating family. One of my favorite things is when people wrap lights around the trunk and then the smaller branches of the trees - like the one behind the skaters...never forget where I was the first time I saw a huge tree done that way!!

Thanks for the holiday tour, Debbie. We also used to tour around to see holiday lights when we lived in NJ and I have enjoyed the ones I have seen here around the Plainfield area the past couple of weeks.
Cupcakes and holiday lights are a good combo!
Happy New Year to you both!

We used to do this very same thing when the kids were little. Santa came while we were done. :) Took them a long time to catch on to what mom was doing when I was always the last one out in the car!

These are all beautiful! I think the last house is my favorite! I love red and white. Chuck and his cupcakes...haha! Cute.

Wow! I don't think I saw anything like those around here. I guess the contest aspect must bring out the lights. Nice pics though. Good thing you didn't get left behind without your bail money.

Frankly speaking, I liked all of them. So much effort and it spreads joy.
I like that ... "he was prepared to take off without me, if I got caught!"
Not a perfect crime partner.

I like this tradition. When I was little, my mom would drive us around on Christmas Even looking at lights. When we arrived home, Santa would have visited. Thanks for great memories.

My family will spend a few hours walking in the night town before the display of the fireworks in the new year eve.

Beautiful! I especially like the decorations around the door in the second photo.

Your hubs would never leave you behind! He'd even save you a cupcake, I bet. :-)

Larry and I went out the Saturday before Christmas looking at lights too.
