Slow Cooking Short Ribs

Let's break the ice by saying that I "enjoy" cooking!!
Yes, it's true, I have to admit it and that my friends,
is a new development.

"We" bought the Crock Pot and my excitement started to build.

First in the line-up...

Short Ribs

The ingredient's are simple...
I was so excited the night before, I cut up the vegetables,
two carrots, 2 stalks of celery and one large onion,
and put them in a large zip lock bag.

First I browned the ribs under the broiler
primarily because I had just cleaned the stove top.

Vegetable dump...

browned short ribs on top,

one cup of red wine, 2 cups beef stock
and two tablespoons of honey!!

Nine hours later, out of the slow cooker,

I thickened the juices from the crock pot,
right in the slow cooker, in to a brown gravy!!
Do you think it's too much gravy??
hehe, it wasn't and that wasn't really a question.

This. Was. Awesome.

Here's a link to the recipe

Has this ever happened to you??
Loved to cook, age 18 - 30...Hated to cook, age 31 - 55
55 +....I kinda' like it again!!

I love using the slow cooker. I can put something in there in the morning, and we're still able to go out. Then, everything is magically ready at dinner time. I use a similar recipe as yours. This Thursday, I'll make pork with onions and apples.

This looks yummy! I can practically smell it. The ingredients sound like a good mix.

I don't know if I'll ever enjoy cooking, but maybe I could try something like this to make it easier at least. We have a crock pot, one that Larry had for years before we ever got married. It's a huge thing. Not sure it works right.

Looks wonderful!! I would give it a try, if I didn't have to leave the house at 6:30 in the morning...

Debbie, your short rib recipe looks delicious. I love to use my crockpot. Especially if the whole meal can cook together in the pot. Thanks for sharing, have a great evening.

Dang, now that looks great! I just did some baby back ribs in the smoker last weekend, but I'll have to try this in the crock pot. I enjoy cooking.

Oh that looks so good! I'll be looking that recipe up and I like it that it cooks in the crockpot. I don't especially like to cook, but I do it because I like to eat! Haha! My favorite thing to do is go out to eat! Hubby, of course, prefers my cooking wouldn't ya know!

Oh I LOVE your new Crock pot I would be lost without mine on these busy days. That looks so good and your photos should be in a foodie magazine, I am sure I do not have to ask how it tasted:) I love cooking wish I had more time to do it lately. Hug B

Those ribs look wonderful. I think that I love to cook now because kids are grown now and they love to eat anything I fix. That makes it a total blast. I have made such interesting things this week. Things they wouldn't have touched in the 31 to say 44 age part, I love your crock pot. Mine is showing signs of wear.

I will try this one and thanks for sharing the link. I actually love using a crockpot. I don't cook like I used too and often I just let my husband do it.
Blessings!

I've never really liked to cook, but looking at this photo made me drool. I have a slow cooker, but the recipe I used was not very good. You're making me want to try again.

Now, that's what I'm talkin' about. Looks so very good.
I'm going to get the recipe and put it on the list of
different things I want to try. I've never, ever cooked
short ribs (probably because I didn't know how)!
Thanks, sweet Debbie
