I am happy and thankful for all of the sunshine and beautiful blue skies we had last week,
and the drought...yes, can I say that, we were experiencing a drought.
This week we have had sunless skies and lots of rain.
Last week I saw several
Egrets
Egrets are herons, long legged wading birds...that have white plumage,
that develop fine plums during mating season.
Cormorants
Cormorants are large waterbirds.
They can hold their breath for several minutes and dive up to 150 feet under water to catch a fish.
This Osprey is in the town Spring Lake.
I visit and photograph this bird often and I am hoping to see babies soon.

The long egret feathers are quite spectacular! Love the cormorant though it is not as handsome a bird as the egret. The Osprey is on guard by the look of it; we watch one here who stands guard near the nest!
Dear Debbie!
The heron is wonderfully posing for your perfect photos.
I've been dry for a month as well. It was hot summer all week. Yesterday it rained heavily and today it was very cold - 12 degrees Celsius.
Greetings from distant Poland.
Have a nice weekend, Debbie:)
My favorite would be the osprey, so cool to watch flying and fishing. The cormorant is very destructive, a flock of those can decimate a fishing lake quickly by eating thousands of young fry in a matter of days.
hi jim, how interesting, i did not know that!!
Debbie, your pics are fantastic. Didn't know Egrets had those featherings... really pretty. And the Osprey on the nest is a great pic.
The shots of the Egret are wonderful and really capture its beauty.
I love seeing the osprey nests--- they are huge aren't they. I always pause to look at them.
Hello Debbie,
These are all beautiful birds to see. I love the egrets, they are lovely.
Great captures of the Cormorant and the Osprey. It will be nice to see the baby Ospreys. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
PS... those long feathers on that egret....they look so soft and feathery, blowing in the wind ....reminds me of "dandy-lions" LOL
Gorgeous captures all!
The egrets are particularly lovely with those long feathers, and I especially like the captures of the cormorant and the osprey.
You know I don't think I have seen a Cormorant. The Osprey looks so majestic up there, that is a pretty impressive nest she has there.
I guess we had rain while we were gone but nothing since we have been back.
