Yarn Along

It's All About That Stash...
If you are a knitter, or a yarn hoarder, you know exactly what I am talking about!!

When I started knitting I bought this to store my yarn in, it's adorable, isn't it?

I was somewhat naive,
but I caught on pretty quickly and after a short amount of time that wasn't cutting it
so I bought this beautiful basket at the farm where I learned to knit,

After a very short while, that was busting at the seams,

and I found this one at one of my favorite go to artsy stores Calgo Gardens.
That is now overflowing with yarn and at this point I am looking at other yarn storage solutions.
That, I'll keep you posted on!

I use this mason jar to store my needles...
There is something about looking at my knitting needles that makes me super happy.
All wood, I like the sound they make when I knit.

The Honey Cowl is finished, I love the color and I am thrilled with how it turned out!!
I started another one, purple, twice the size...that one will be on the needles for a while.
I'll share pictures next week!

Coloring for the Big Girls...

Yes...it's all the rage, if you missed my post on adults who color, you can read all about it here.

Here is my first piece finished, it is a postcard, I may send it, I may keep it.
Since it is my first, I am leaning toward keeping it.

And here are the two midgets that got "me" coloring again...

Lorelei, she is approaching her 2nd birthday.

Adelina, she is 3, getting pretty close to her 4th birthday!
These are my great nieces, if I tried hard, I could not love them more.
Their mom, my niece Dean-na, always made sure I was part of her life and now theirs.

Comfort Food...

What I miss most about Winter, when it's gone, is comfort food.
Even though you can of course cook it in Summer,
I never do.
Note to self, cook more comfort food during the Summer because you and the hubs enjoy it.

Today, I am going to share just a few of my favorite comfort foods with you here.

You can find my favorite Chicken Noodle Soup recipe here.

My favorite Pot Roast recipe is here.
This is a recipe for Short Ribs but I use all the same ingredients for Pot Roast,
and I always buy a Chuck Roast.
After 8 hours, the meat just falls apart and this recipe makes the best gravy.

This is One Pan Roast Chicken and Potatoes from Cooks Country.
The recipe can be found here.

My favorite Spaghetti and Meatballs recipe can be found here.
I play with the meatball recipe a lot and lately I haven't been using a recipe at all.

I have been cooking a lot this winter and find I am inspired by Pinterest
and those darn cooking shows.

What about you guys, who's been cooking comfort food this Winter?

A Spring Sprinkle!!

Sunday night into Monday, it snowed.

This is the view from my second floor bedroom window.

We got just the right amount...
for a couple of hours, everything was so beautiful, then just like that, it was gone.
Winter's last hoorah I think!!

Good Fences ~ Edition 105 ~

I like to participate with Good Fences on Thursday's,
but I don't see a lot of fancy or pretty fences in my area.
And although this seems like a post about these two beautiful horses...
that's just because these darn horses always stand behind the fence,
and they are quite the distraction from the fence, aren't they?
I always see these horses when I pass this farm,
and we pass it often as it is on the way to and from our favorite bike path.
I had my fingers crossed that they would be out as we went past.
Two were out and wanted to have their picture taken, the third was busy eating
and never came over to the fence.
All three look the same.

As always, I took way too many pictures, then deciding what to share is always so difficult.
It was a beautiful day, the sky was so blue and the temperatures were so warm.
And lucky us, I took these on our way home from a bike ride at Allaire State Park.
That is our favorite place to ride our bikes as they have a dedicated bike path.

Yarn Along!!

I can hardly contain my excitement for today's Yarn Along.
I have something new to share,
and you will never know how happy I am to be working on something different.
You may remember that last week I finished my 400 yard scarf, on my needles now
The Honey Cowl.
The pattern is free on Ravelery and I have never knitted a stitch/pattern like this before.
Leanne my knitting teacher suggested this and sent me a link to the pattern...
at 5 p.m. when I am sure she had better things to do.
She answered my text, which was a shout out for "what can I make with this yarn"
"what can "I" do that will still be fun"?
She knows me, she is always there to help me...
this is so very easy, so beautiful looking...here's what I am babbling about...

You will have to pay attention to the pattern, I have a spot where my rows are "off".
But it is hardly noticeable and I am super pleased with how it's coming along.

I am using Madeline Tosh yarn that I had in my stash and the first picture is truer to the color.
If you are interested, here is a link to the free pattern.
Here's to a very happy knitting week, many thanks Leanne, you're the best!

Let's Color...

Sometimes, when I visit my nieces, we color.  I find so often they lose interest before I do.
I have been seeing large adult coloring books everywhere,
but that seemed like a lot of time to invest into something that I couldn't really share
with or give to anyone.
One of my knitting buddies told me that they made smaller books,
in a postcard size.
I was really interested in that so I did a little research on google
and found a book that I liked at Amazon.
I placed my order and just like clockwork it's here and I am in love.

The book is called Pretty Flower Postcards and I am using colored pencils that I already had.

I am just getting started but I do find this to be both soothing and very relaxing.

These are postcards,
but could also be glued on to card stock and made into regular cards.

9 bucks for 25 postcards and another hobby that I really needed...
hehehe...if you follow my blog, you will know that is a joke!

Barlow's Flower Farm!!

This is, without question, one of my favorite Garden Centers...
I know I say that about all the Garden Center's, but this one is really special.

Barlow Flower Farm, located in Sea Girt, New Jersey
let me show you why it's on the top of my list!

We visited on March 12th, so St. Patrick's Day was still on display.

Easter also...

one of the cutest display's I have ever seen.

Can you handle the cuteness of that
Welcome Carrot?

I am eyeing up this bird bath...

and the elephant here.

I planted pansies in the fall,

last year they came back in the Spring...fingers crossed!!
