Fair Isle Knitting Class...Part II

Who remembers my Fair Isle Knitting class...
the one I posted about here?

Well much to my surprise, I finished my hat yesterday.

This is the first hat I knitted that followed a pattern,
where I worked with three colors of yarn at the same time.
This was not easy at first,
but I really got the hang of it, just as I finished up.

 No worries though...

the knitting basket is full of yarn and lots of idea's.

Now one more look at the
"Basic Norwegian Star Hat"
I love looking at it and I must say I am a little bit proud,
just a little!!

The Scone Shop!!

On Friday, while my sister was visiting, we had a very special lunch at
right here in my own home town of Brick.
To say this place is amazing, is a huge understatement...
the decor, the food, the atmosphere are all divine!!
The scones are unique and absolutely delicious.
Everything inside is lovely,
perfectly decorated right down to the family photo's on the walls
and the handpicked china and tea pot sets.
The staff is friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Serving both breakfast and lunch,
all the food is freshly prepared and just so delicious.
But if you think this place is all about the scones, you are dead wrong.

First let's start with the decor...

The truth is, the only food picture I took was of the
spinach artichoke dip appetizer.

I was so hungry and excited when the food came,
I forgot to take a picture.
My mom and I had chicken salad on a croissant,
my sister had a turkey sandwich with fresh mozzarella
and roasted red pepper, everything comes with a nice side salad.
I wanted to order the "high tea" tower but it was Friday,
they were serving the tower completely meatless,
and that wasn't going to work for us.

Me, my sister Kathy and my Mom

We shared a scone, I brought a S'mores Bread home for the hubs
and we left with very happy bellies.

Good thing for stretchy pants!!

Wild Bird Seeds and Such!!

I love to "Buy Local"...to support the little businesses in any area,
and especially those close to home.
When we take a trip, I really enjoy supporting the local shops.
This store is so much more than it's name,
it is, without question, the most adorable shop I have ever visited.
The hubs and I love to go, buy products often
and I was so happy to share it with my sister, while she was visiting.

It's close to home...in Brielle, NJ,
now lets quit the chatter and get to the good stuff...pictures!

Dear hubs, this is the birdhouse I fell in love with...
just in case you were wondering!!

The woman who owns this shop is just the sweetest thing,
and has a wealth of knowledge about birds that she loves to share.

My sister's daughter Sarah wants to start feeding the birds.
We picked her up a feeder and some seed.
I am so excited that we share a passion for bird watching,
I am sure she "gets it" from me!!

Saturday Critters ~ 67 ~

The Yellow Rumped Warblers have left the yard...
here are a few images of them back on February 15th, of this year.

I am a little sad but they are right on schedule.
I rarely see them after the middle of March.

Good Fences ~ Edition 53 ~

Back in November of 2013,
the people who bought the house next to mine,
decided to take it down and build something new and modern.

I was not sure how I felt about that, the house was only 30 years old,
but it had not been loved and cared for in a year,
so perhaps it was a good idea.
All of the windows and lumber were donated to Habitat for Humanity.

I did not get a picture before the demolition began,
but I have taken some pictures along the way.

I decided to share this today because
I have not been out all week and I don't have a "real" fence picture
to share today.
I noticed there are several ugly chain link fences (mine) and
some unsightly orange safety fences in these.

I took this picture early one morning as I was watching the sunrise.

So...that's what I have been looking at for the past 16 months.
I was happy when the carpenters finished,
they started at 7 a.m., sharp.

And the roofers also, you could set your clock to it and there
was no way to sleep through it.
Their expected move in date is sometime in May.
They are a very nice, young couple with 3 children
and a lot of money.
Right now they are taking out the old swimming pool
and replacing it with a new one.
My prediction, I don't think they will be in by May.

Yep, I'm pretty sure the are not going to make it...
and I am dying to get inside!!
