Full Moon...

Waiting for the fireworks on Thursday,
the day before the full moon/blood moon...
I captured a couple images of the "almost" full moon because it was super pretty,
and quite frankly, I was bored, we always arrive too early.

The next 2 were my favorites!!

A photographer can always occupy one's self.

Saturday Critters ~ 241 ~

- let's hear it for the girls -

Last week I shared the boys, this week it is the girls turn.

First up, the Female Goldfinch

Next, the Female Downey Woodpecker

And last, the often overlooked Female House Finch

Even though they are not as pretty as the boys,
there is something very sweet and special about my girls!

Summerfest...

Thursday night was the last night of Summerfest...our town's final fireworks display!

We watched from across the river.

I only took a few pictures,
I have a fireworks setting on my camera but it doesn't produce very good pictures.

We went to Rita's after...

they had juicy pear so I was super happy!

I love Summer...
how about you guys, are you getting your fill of Summer fun?

Mourning Doves...

- The Mourning Dove -
A graceful, slender-tailed, small headed dove,
delicate tan to buffy-brown overall with black spots on it's wings.
With a similar look,
the female Mourning Dove is slightly paler than the male with less gray on their head.
The first four pictures may be a female, the later three a male.
Mourning Doves mate for life.

You can listen to their sweet cooing call here.

Yarn Along

Today's Yarn Along is short and sweet...

Last week I started another
Chevron Baby Blanket
I decided to make another one with the neutral colors,
these were the colors of my first blanket and I really like this combination.
This pattern is free on Ravelry,
knitted with Berroco Vintage Yarn, a joy to work with.

You may recognize my knitting book, I keep track of all my knitting projects in it.

Why I Love Manasquan....

It's a Shore Town...with a Beach Vibe...
Everybody rides their bike, and wears flip-flops or is barefoot.
Almost everyone has a season badge for the beach
and has been on a surfboard at some point in their life.
Everyone is tan...

The local hardware store, which in "not" a big box store,
handed out these wooden surfboards, for the towns people to paint.
They are now displayed throughout town,
each one is marked and you vote for your favorite in the hardware store.

The front of the NJ Natives...

here's the back.
Carter, the boards creator included his picture on the front.
How clever is that!

We walked around the town of Manasquan while we were waiting for the theater to open
for our Beauty and the Beast Show.
I knew about the surfboards so I was on the lookout.
These were all so creative...I love where I live and can't imagine living anywhere else!

Did you have a favorite?? Let me know in the comments!!

Beauty and the Beast...

This production of Beauty and the Beast was amazing!
All of the shows at the Algonquin Theater in Manasquan, NJ
are broadway quality, this show was outstanding!

This man was so kind, and a wonderful actor.
After posting this picture on Facebook,
I learned he is my knitting teacher Leanne's cousin, it's a small world.

No photograph's were allowed during the performance...

but I was happy to snap a few during the curtain call.

I was thrilled to have my picture taken with the cast,
and only slightly embarrassed that I did not have a child with me...I did apologize.

I am lucky to have this theater so close to home, only 10 minutes away.
We had a lovely dinner afterward at our favorite Italian Restaurant
 Lubrano's Trattoria
We both had baked ziti and they have the best bread on the planet earth,
I should have taken a picture.

At the end of the day, Chuck always asks me if I enjoyed the day, if I had fun...
when I say yes, his whole face lights up.
Many thanks to the hubs for an amazing day!
