Hot Rods & Food Trucks, Part 2!!

Seaside Heights...June 21, 2014
I have been to so many car shows in the last decade,
never before now have I been to one with so many cars.
Yesterday, I shared only my favorite cars...
there had to be at least 100 more hot rods that I didn't share.
On to the food trucks, which were also part of this event,
this part was amazing as well.
Our first stop was...

we quickly choose and placed our order.

It was a long wait, (you may recognize the hubs from the back),

for one of these, a "Spudwich"!!
A bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich,
the top and bottom are a deep fried baked potato.
There are no words to describe the deliciousness of this,
there was no extra charge for all that grease.

I really loved this Kona Ice Truck where you make your own snow cone.

 The Empanada Guy was there...

 as was the Chipstix Girl.

A baking potato, a stick and a twirling machine...

 a little separating and spacing...

a little deep frying...

and you have this!!
It's seasoned with whatever seasonings you want,
I chose sour cream and chives.

It breaks apart easily and is more delicious then you could ever imagine.
I wish I had a bigger belly,
so I could have tasted more of the treats.
If you ever have the opportunity to go to a gourmet food truck show,
be sure and go.
It was so very fun tasting all the different gourmet foods and treats.
And there were lots of free samples as well.
But you do have to leave your
"I'm afraid of non-healthy food" attitude at home.

Hot Rods & Food Trucks!!

Be still my heart...
two of my very most favorite things in the whole wide world.
Food and Hot Rods, in that order!!

Saturday, June 21, in Seaside Heights, they had both.
It was a gorgeous day here at the Jersey Shore,
sunny, 70 degrees with an ocean breeze,
and just a few fair weather clouds painted the sky.

Hot Rods lined the streets, lots of them...

These are just a few of my favorites, this car show was insane...

I'll have to show you the gourmet food trucks tomorrow.
They were insane as well!!

Saturday Critters ~ 30 ~

Last Saturday the hubs and I were on our way home from Seaside...
from a Hot Rod and Food Truck event.
That will be another, very long entry.

We were almost home when I spotted this beauty...

just out of the corner of my eye.
Well, that's not really true as my head spins constantly while we are driving.
At first sight, I had no idea what this was but I knew I had to find out.

This was a, spin the car around, find a shoulder (there was none)
hit the flashers...change the lens, get "beeped at" kind of event.
I jumped out of the car, the hubs found a Pizza Hut parking lot,
and it was all worth it...

 The Black Crowned Night Heron...
it is a lifer for me.

Such a beauty and I think it looks a little like a penguin!!

I am super excited to be joining in with Eileen over at
for Saturday Critters.
Stop by and consider joining in, any critter will do!

Also sharing with Anni at I'd Rather B Birding
Please visit Anni to view some amazing birds from around the world.
Many thanks for the invite!!

Good Fences ~ Edition 14 ~

On June 7th, we visited Cape May.
Almost every home in this little Seaside Community has a fence out front.
You could refer to this place as "fence heaven".
Especially if you happen to need a fence for Thursdays,
to support our dear friend Theresa.

I would love to call this place home...even though it's not purple!

I am super excited to be sharing this pretty colorful fence with
for Good Fences.
Stop by and consider joining in the fun, any fence or gate will do!!
And trust me, there are a lot of pretty fences out there
that need to be photographed and shared!!

The Story of My Life!!

Thirty Six years ago today, when I was 19 years old,
I married the man of my dreams.
My life began when I met him, a few years earlier.
It's a funny story, perhaps a little long, so read if you like...
don't feel like you have to.
I have never "told" the story here before
and I thought today would be the perfect day to do that.

I was 15 years old when I got my job at Burger Chef.
I had been working for years, babysitting,
cleaning hotel rooms at the shore...
it was just another job and a way to make a little cash.

My manager was a skinny guy with red hair,
his pants were stapled together where they needed to be sewn.
He was a hard worker and a little bossy.
I was surprised that he was a manager as I was older then he.
He was nice, but a little too serious for me.

Burger Chef closed at 9 p.m. and most nights I worked till closing, so did he.

We started talking, well, I started talking and he started listening.
When he started talking I realized he was interesting and funny...
different then the boys I would usually date and I really liked him.

And let's face it, he needed someone to sew his pants.

So, I asked him out on a date, and he said no.
True story...
I was pretty surprised.
I asked him out several times after that, the answer was always the same.

My senior prom was coming up, I was dating John...
he was o.k. but I liked my manager better.
I asked him to take me to my prom and he said, no.

No...I was a confident girl and I couldn't really believe it
He wouldn't budge so I went to my prom with John.
Before we went to the prom, there was one stop I wanted to make...
Burger Chef, so the love of my life, who was working that night
could see me in my prom dress.

He was not impressed nor jealous.

I broke up with John...he was nice but he wasn't Chuck
and I wanted to date Chuck.

I don't remember how long it took after that
but he finally asked me out on a date.
He borrowed his sister's car and we drove down to the inlet in
Point Pleasant and did what we always did...
we talked for hours.

I fell in love that night and 2 years later on Christmas Eve
he asked me to marry him...I said YES!

"Long story even longer, my life began when I met you.
You love me like no one else ever has,
you saved me, you protected me, I am whole because of you."

You are the air in my lungs and I will adore you until the day we die.

Pooh said it best when he said,
"If you live to be 100,
I want to live to be 100 minus one day,
so I never have to live without you"
