Saturday Critters ~ 30 ~

Last Saturday the hubs and I were on our way home from Seaside...
from a Hot Rod and Food Truck event.
That will be another, very long entry.

We were almost home when I spotted this beauty...

just out of the corner of my eye.
Well, that's not really true as my head spins constantly while we are driving.
At first sight, I had no idea what this was but I knew I had to find out.

This was a, spin the car around, find a shoulder (there was none)
hit the flashers...change the lens, get "beeped at" kind of event.
I jumped out of the car, the hubs found a Pizza Hut parking lot,
and it was all worth it...

 The Black Crowned Night Heron...
it is a lifer for me.

Such a beauty and I think it looks a little like a penguin!!

I am super excited to be joining in with Eileen over at
for Saturday Critters.
Stop by and consider joining in, any critter will do!

Also sharing with Anni at I'd Rather B Birding
Please visit Anni to view some amazing birds from around the world.
Many thanks for the invite!!

Oh, that is sooooo cool! I remember when I finally nailed my first BCNight Heron photo. Around where I live, they are very elusive, and I rarely see one. Your photos are just superb. So glad you're sharp-eyed!
