The Monarchs

On August 27th,
perhaps the last day we had sunshine,
I had several monarch butterflies fluttering around my gardens.
The monarch butterfly is perhaps one of the most recognized butterflies.

Summer adults live only a few weeks.
Think about that time frame when you see a monarch...
how wonderful they decided to visit you during the few weeks they were alive.

Butterflies...the flowers of the air!

Oh, so beautiful, Debbie. I think you're the new butterfly whisperer, and that's a huge compliment.

I had no idea they lived such a short life, though. :(

Monarchs appear to have had a very good year this year. They have been migrating through here in the thousands over the past week or so.

Butterflies are magic: they bring just grace... they don't hurt, or sting, or disturb...

Debbie - glorious shots! A few years ago, I did a presentation at work about Monarchs as a way of demonstrating several principles - teamwork, perseverance, the power of transformation, etc. Most people did not really appreciate the lifecycle of this marvelous creature!
