Allaire State Park

Only about ten minutes from home, we enjoy our frequent visits to
Allaire State Park
It is a beautiful, historic park built back in 1822, as a self sustained community for about 400 people.
has 11 buildings that still stand on their original foundations.

This pretty village is also part of the
Offering a quiet path for bike riding and hiking...
and if you are lucky, you may even pass a horse or two.

This park is also home to The Pine Creek Railroad...

We went for a ride...

The Caboose

The Church

Row Houses

Managers House

I was not able to walk through the entire village, just a small loop,
but the train ride was awesome!

It looks like a place to go back in time for a few hours! Love the old train rides! That a tiny house. Wonder how many children were raised there!

Such a beautiful, and fun place! The train reminds me of the trolley in St. Augustine, I never tire of riding with one or three of the greats. :)

BTW - I still haven't seen my adoption papers! What's up with that? :)

Watching my son and his family go through places in the midwest, has been so interesting to me. Your 4.00 dollar ticket is amazing because here it would be 20 dollars or more. The places that my son has gone that is free to families has been just amazing to me.
I love it when you go visit places with Chuck is just so nice. I love your cute photos of each other.

It's one of my very favorite places. When I feel a bit off, I take the kids and we go to bakery and general store for some goodies and then walk through the woods for a little bit. Then I feel all better :)

How wonderful that this is so close to your house. It's a splendid place to step back in time, and it has my favorite red caboose! That from my childhood was the greatest thing to wait for. Not any more, they just have some metal contraption added to the last car. So boring!

I love riding historic trains. For work, I once organized a one-way train ride on a historic train - the return journey was on rented bikes that we had loaded on the train at the start! Thanks for this lovely 'choo-choo' down memory lane!

A place I'd enjoy visiting! It reminds me a bit of an Amish village here with all of the original buildings. No train here, though.

The train ride did look fun. The photos of the two of you are always fun. The park is really a nice one and I like the history. Amazing that the foundations were still Ok from that long ago. I love history and so the photos of the church and row house and etc are fascinating to me.
Blessings and hugs!

I love the way you are "tourists" in your own area. I wonder why more people don't do that - or maybe it's just me... What a wonderful way to enjoy your own home!
