Standing Watch...

It's spring, it's nest building season and we have a new tenant in the bird house...
This Male House Sparrow is very protective of his new home.
I hear him chirping all of the time and this bird house is about 50 feet away from my desk.
To say he is loud, is a huge understatement.

Male House Sparrow sitting on top of the birdhouse.

He jumps down occasionally, but never seems to fly off!

The House Sparrow is a very common sparrow, rarely seen far from homes and farms.
Often tame where it is regularly fed.
- here -
Sexes are dissimilar.
Sparrows are so often overlooked because they are not colorful and don't stand out.
But they have a beautiful feather pattern, with lots of gray, black and brown.
I'm sure we are going to have babies soon!

One of the most common birds...and humblest.
Stay safe, Debbie!

Why, the sweet little fellow is just happy that spring has arrived and he has taken residence in that beautiful birdhouse. Such a lovely birdhouse, by the way.

Little house sparrows are so sweet......I like them! How was your weekend? We made it out for a few drives. Getting harder and harder to find safe places to walk and be far away from people tho.... The weather is hot and great, I love it! Mr. Front Porch built me two bluebird houses this weekend and hung them up for me. I know they like mealy worms, right? Any other tips, you know anything about attracting them? We have seen a few in the back yard and we hope they nest with us!!! Hope you're going well, hugs!

I'm glad this guy is making a home at your place. Around here, they are over-abundant, so I will not allow them to use the bird houses.

He is a fine little fellow - full of importance as he carries out his duties ;D) Beautiful photos and closeups Debbie!

Great photos of this loud one! :-) We have a pair here trying to nest in the front porch. A pair of starlings drove them out of their first spot. Two non-native species competing with each other.

He must be so happy with his new home that he is letting everyone in hearing distance know about it :) I had one come to the feeder today that had a red head and breast, I haven't looked up yet to see what kind he is. The sparrows are what we have the most of here, well that and cardinals and those larger birds with the long tail, I tried to look up what they were called but couldn't find it.

Debbie - how wonderful to have this dapper companion just outside your window. We do take sparrows for granted, don't we? I particularly like the pictures when he has his beak open - clearly, singing at full throttle! Stay well!

I think this little House Sparrow is adorable. How fun if she has babies. I love the close up photos and it's bird house too. Do you name them?
Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!
