I didn't know what kind of bird it was, sitting atop the suet.
I tapped on the window and it didn't budge...
I didn't want to chase it off, I just wanted to know who had selected such an odd spot for a nap.
One eye open only slightly, the tapping had arose it's curiosity, but only a little...
as the beak popped out, I knew it was a Blue Jay
The suet is under the overhang of the house, protected from these fierce winds.
Smart bird, a nap...
a meal,
and protection from the wind!
This Blue Jay was quite content and happy, staying for quite a while before flying off!

Hello, sleeping on the suet, that is original. I guess the Blue Jay did not want to share. Great series. Stay warm! Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week ahead.
Yes, he is smart. What a puff ball!
Taking a nap and guarding lunch at the same time. Smart bird!
♥ ☺
That is a very fluffy bird! It's like my hair in the 80's.
What a fluffy! :)
I bet he was guarding the food too. Poor thing, I couldn't tell either until he finally moved. Great shots Debbie.
Those downy feathers must keep it really warm. Great captures.
Very beautiful!Great pics!
I love how all the pretty birds keep visiting your home. It must get around the bird kingdom that there is a lovely lady who leaves food for them and takes amazing photos of them in all their glory and shows the world. Yep.....I guess they rather love your place.
Such a sweet bird... He knew who to visit!
He does look all fluffed up. I would not have guessed Blue Jay from the first coupe of pictures.
That’s a smart bird ...one stop shopping for all his needs!
Debbie - what a fabulous series of photos … I never would have guessed that was a Jay - I thought Tufted Titmouse ...
...the little fluffy thing!
What a beauty.. we have so many blue jays in our backyard. But I never knew they did that.

Oh my Debbie what stunning captures and such a great looking day you were having too!
LOL! That's awesome! What better place to sleep than on your food? Kind of a two-for-one deal!
What a sensible bird - great photographs Debbie.
All the best Jan
I’m wondering if your blue jays are used to seeing you around. The ones at my feeder will fly away if they see even the slightest movement inside my house!!! Quite a smart blue jay you have!
