There are a lot of critters at
The Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival.
A big part of the festivals mission is to promote the sheep and wool industry.
So often, when people see me knitting they mention that it is a dying art,
none of those people have ever been to a festival like this.
Fiber arts are alive and well, thriving in the world these days.
As much as I love yarn, the critters may be my favorite part of the show.
A girl and her sheep...
I asked this wee one and her mom if it was ok for me to take this picture,
both said yes!

I really like this illustration of "Wool - Farm to Fabric"
a great illustration of the process many people take for granted.

Obviously at a show like this it is akin to preaching to the converted. I doubt that it represents the world of knitting at large. I do know a few ladies who knit, but not many, whereas when I was a child it seems that most women were knitters, in part because they did not have sufficient means to buy clothes for their children at the store. Ironically, I was taught to knit as a boy - why, I have no idea and I did complete a few simple things like scarves.
That first sheep has the wool strategically placed over its nose. A girl has to have her “hair” just right when she’s taken out for the day.
Oh, my goodness! So woolly! LOL! Very cute!
Sheep are sweet and tender animals.
These have a lot of different hairstyles!... ;)
Just look at all that wool and so many different shapes from curly to long. Love the picture with the little girl and the Illustration of how it is all produced. Thanks for sharing.
Debbie, I love that last photo. Wow, what curly hair! Those bangs on the first sheep. So funny. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Such beautiful critters! Every single photo would make a beautiful painting!
Awww look at those sweet faces! I also love that we are able to use their wool, but it isn’t harmful to the animals and they’re cared for.
such great pictures of some beautiful animals, that is so sweet the little girl with her sheep. That is a cool picture with the farm to fabric, there is a lot that goes into it that's for sure.
I love all the info at the end. Looks like something a student could write an essay on. The photos are precious! Especially the little one with her lamb! Perfect!
Got to love those cute faces.
Aww lovely photographs.
All the best Jan
A wonderful creature for every niche
