St. Johns Island, Asbury Park

I'm home, my batteries are recharged and I am feeling better.
Before my unplanned hospital stay we visited St. John's Island in Asbury Park.

I have lived in this area my entire life, but I have never been to St. John's Island.
I knew not of its existence.
I read an Instagram post from someone who shared pictures...
they saw a Night Heron there, I had to go.

I immediately visited this magical island back in May, which is really more like a park.

This beautiful rhododendron tree is in the center of the island.

The Iris were in bloom and they were everywhere.

This rainbow bridge is located on the island, many people have participated sharing
memories of their loved animals.

Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw the Night Heron.

It tried to hide but was no match for me...

I have never seen one so close, or had the opportunity to photograph it.

Asbury Park has a "remember me" tree program.
The trees are tagged like this.

There is a new bench in the shape of an alligator...

of course, we had to test it out.
It's very cute and very uncomfortable.

Today...such a beautiful day!

Glad to read that you are back home and enjoying a new adventure, Debbie. I have never photographed a night heron and your photo captures were wonderful. That seat could use some cushioning for sure😏
