Happiness Is A Butterfly, Or Three!!

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam,
and for a brief moment, it's glory and beauty belong to our world...but then it flies again,
and though we wished it could have stayed, we feel lucky to have seen it.

Black Swallowtail
Number three, emerged and released on July 24, 2019.

ps added at 12 noon...two more butterflies emerged today and I just released them.
They did not want to pose for pictures, so you will have to take my word for it.
We came indoors and another emerged, we are waiting for it's wings to dry.
What an exciting day!

  1. Que maravilha, bela borboleta, aproveito para desejar a continuação de uma boa semana.

  2. We expect one of ours to hatch any day now, maybe even today. We will be out for most of the day but I would not be surprised to come home and find it fluttering in the cage waiting ti be set free.

  3. Love the second picture catching even the dew drops on the flower.

  4. Fabulous photographs here Debbie …

    Happy Thursday Wishes.

    All the best Jan

  5. Such pretty butterfly pictures, Debbie! I also loved the previous post and the cowls you were/are working on. I can't decide if i like the gray or the green best, probably the green! You sure are good at making those. I saw where my Birds and Blooms magazine has a photography might want to enter some of your amazing pictures, yours are BETTER than previous year's winners in my opinion!!

    1. awwwww, thanks debbi, i will look in to it. i love that magazine but i don't get it anymore!!

  6. This must be a real highlight for you. Our son has several Monarch chrysallises. They rescued the caterpillars from plants in a wheatfield.

  7. wow, they are keeping you hopping now, so anxious to get going it sounds like :)

  8. Hello, your butterflies are beautiful. Love the photos. Enjoy your day, happy weekend!

  9. Oh so gorgeous and uplifting to see these beauties and know that you've raised them. So well done :D) xx

  10. that is so funny that you are sharing a butterfly shot ... was thinking about u today. any who .. i keep finding wings every where, i am curious why? is it too warm for them or is a animal, bug going after those butterflies? i wonder??! poor things. we had such an odd weather recently. it was so hot and humid. several days of rain and now we are kind of in the high 70s but not so humid. so weird yet again this year??! hope u r well. have a great happy weekend. ( ;

  11. Truly lovely - and I understand exactly what you mean about feeling happy to have seen them if only for a few moments.

  12. Oh, Debbie, your photos of these butterflies are spectacular. You have always been my favorite bird photographer, but now it's a toss up with your butterfly photos. I find it all very amazing.
    Blessings and hugs!

  13. Beautiful photos of wonderful butterflies.
I don't know why but this year I have seen less butterlies in my garden. Pollution fault?
