Song-ography ~ Up On The Roof Edition ~ 1

James Taylor
~ Up on the Roof ~

When this old world starts a getting me down,
and people are just too much for me to face.

I'll climb way up to the top of the stairs
and all my cares just drift right into space.
On the roof,
it's peaceful as can be and there the world below don't bother me, no, no.
So when I come home feeling tired and beat,
I'll go up where the air is fresh and sweet.
I'll get far away from the hustling crowd and all the rat-race
 noise down in the street.

On the roof, that's the only place I know, look at the city, baby.
Where you just have to wish to make it so, let's go up on the roof.

And at night the stars, they put on a show for free.
And, darling,
you can share it all with me, that's what I said, keep on telling you

That right smack dab in the middle of town,
I found a paradise that's trouble-proof.

And if this old world starts a getting you down,
there's room enough for two
up on the roof, up on the roof, up on the roof.

Everything is all right, every thing is all right.
You got the stars above and the city lights below, let's go up on the roof.

Sharing today with Kathy at You'll Shoot Your Eye Out
This was super fun and gave me a challenge for the week.
Here's the Rules
Stop by or consider joining in, I adore James Taylor Songs.

My images are from Wednesdays "no show" glad I went!

  1. LOVELY!! It really brings me back... all the photos you post of the jersey shore. Every once in a while I see something that I know I must have seen as a child, cause it strikes something in me - we vacationed there every summer! And the beaches always bring back wonderful brother - who's traveled all over and lives in Hawaii - still thinks longingly of the beaches from our childhood!

  2. I love that old building and sign front!

  3. I love it great night shot!

  4. Oh neato! Love the way you added those sparkly, unexpected stars in that photo.

Jersey is one state I have never been too... it is however on my bucket list as is just about any state on the Atlantic Ocean. xox

  5. thanks to blogland, i've been humming that song all morning. *sigh*

i like your edit on the 2nd! fireworks would have ruined the peacefulness. :)

  6. I like that 1st night light-so soothing. The only sweet thing about the sun going down for the day.

  7. What a FANTASTIC ship on the roof of that first shot! And I think I like your second shot better WITHOUT the real fireworks, how you edited it still maintains a quiet peacefulness to it. Bravo! FYI, heading to the Jersey Shore (Stone Harbor/Avalon) next weekend...CAN'T WAIT to take photos! :) Thanks for linking up to Song-ography!!!!!

  8. Wonderful take on the song.
I really like the building shot and the play of lights in it. Then you post a beach shot and I'm completely lost in the dreamy feel of it.

  9. Wonderfully done! Great shots and well fitted to the song.

  10. This is a cool post Debbie, great song and lovely pics to go along with it. I especially love your beach shot - lovely!! :)

  11. Well done, Debbie! Loved the photos, especially the beach shot with the stars. Great post!

  12. I just love this, Debbie! Great job!

  13. Oh I just love this too it brings back so many memories. Oh it makes me smile.Awesome shots....... Thankyou my friend Hug B

  14. Beautiful! These are perfect for the song.

  15. Great shots, Debbie! I can just imagine being up on the roof in that first shot, feeling the breeze, listening to James Taylor, and letting all my troubles blow away.

  16. HI Debbie Great night shot.Margaret

  17. Ooooh, Asbury Park, such a great place for photos.

  18. Oh I love that first picture! So pretty.

  19. You created your own beautiful fireworks Debbie.

    I love James Taylor songs-

Back in the day- Asbury boardwalk was the place to be and be seen especially on Easter Sunday.

  20. Personally, I prefer the original song sung by the Drifters. Not that James Taylor isn't also a favorite, but the original hits it better for me. Great shot of Asbury Park at night.

  21. I loved the beautiful words and images. I am hoping sometime I can visit the Jersey Store. You have inspired me.
