Just in case you missed yesterday's post, this is what I wrote...
"It was on the Bucket List, we usually go several times each summer and so far, we have not been.
Friday was a beautiful day, the perfect day for a 1/2 hour ride to Great Adventure,
in Jackson New Jersey and a ride through the Wild Safari!
When we got there everything had changed from years past...
you no longer enjoy the safari from the comfort of your own car,
but in a large safari car driven by a park employee."
We weren't sure about the changes they made, riding in the big vehicle, no air conditioning,
we assumed the ride would be bumpy but we were there so we decided to give it a try.
The ride was bumpy, but the breeze...oh the breeze was wonderful.
I really enjoyed the safari trucks and the atmosphere they added, it felt like you were really on safari.
Our safari guide was excellent,
along with his deep knowledge of the animals, he had some "beary funny" jokes.
The animals were amazing, they looked healthy, they had plenty of space to run around
This is the truck we drove in.
It was very big and the ride was very bumpy but super cool.
There were a lot of Giraffes, they did not come close to the Safari Vehicle.
This bear nursing her 2 cubs was one of the most beautiful & touching things I have ever seen.
I wanted to read more about baby cubs, so off to google I went.
The cubs are born in January...they weigh between 8 ounces and 16 ounces.
Female bears may give birth to 1 - 5 cubs at a time but the average litter size is 3.
This Baboon is sitting on a piece of an old roller coaster.
They are building these safari huts where people can rent them and stay the weekend.
You get the full safari experience by sleeping in the tent, spending private time with the animals
and time to feed the animals as well.
The rooms are fully furnished and have air conditioning, just like a hotel room.
Called Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa you can see inside the rooms and read all about it here.

What a great idea to have the accommodations there too. The open-air trucks sound perfect too.
Nice tour. Be cautious about staying overnight. Our KC Zoo has an outdoor camping overnight adventure. My son's Scout troop did that. We didn't sleep well in our tents at all because the male lions were howling most of the night! And a nearby freight train track was felt and heard during the night. Linda in Kansas
Yes, they made the change from private car at least 5 years ago! We took my mother in law and were really surprised. It's such a fun thing to do.
The last time I was there we had to ride in the trucks. But that was years ago. I loved it.
they have gone back and forth on riding in the safari trucks. last year, we rode in our car!!
Looks like a fun fun day Debbie! ,love all your adventures!!I LOve the giraffes best!
I am glad it was not disappointing and looks like you had a great time. Your photos are lovely!

Hello Debbie :=)
Delightful photos of the Safari Park. The Safari huts look very African in design and it must be fun to spend a weekend in an air conditioned hut with other amenities. All the animals look as if they too have spacious accommodation, and look well cared for. I like the idea of the truck ride...just like a real safari.Very enjoyable post. :=)
All the best
Sonjia.
Well that answered my question from the other post, glad you enjoyed the ride and it does seem like that would make it feel a little more engaged when there are no sides, more in the open.
Wow those places to stay look interesting and I bet to wake up to the park waking up would be interesting as would be some of the night time noises! How cool to have seen the momma bear with the cubs, so sweet!
