Our Male Goldfinches are changing clothes right now,
winter wear to summer wear,
soon they will be the vibrant yellow color they become for summer.
The first two pictures were taken on Sunday the 21st.
This Goldfinch seemed to have more yellow and less gray.
This picture and the next were taken on Monday the 22nd...
you can see this Male Goldfinch still has a lot of it's gray, winter feathers.
This picture was also taken on the 22nd.
This picture was taken this morning,
he will become a much bolder yellow in the next few weeks as he sports his breeding plumage.
Females are similar to winter males, but brighter in summer.
Their song is a chattering of whistles and squeaks, calls include a tinkling whistle.
They are common here at my feeders year round!

A gorgeous bird Debbie.
It's a wonderful companion to have in your garden. Sometimes I have as many as thirty at my feeders and when some of the flowers go to seed later in the year they have a whole new food source.
Hello Debbie, I love the sweet Goldfinches. They bring some bright color to the yard. Wonderful collection of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks also for leaving a comment for me. My Flicker is gone now, :(
They are some of the most beautiful birds....I saw my first one of the season the other day as I was driving down the road and it flew across the street in front of me. They make me smile to see them. Course I love watching all the birds. As for Annie, she is just like that with everyone but her human mom. Course it don't help that I will play with her when she does that. Not sure if she is butting me to play or be mean but I just put my hand there at her horns and push back. However, I NEVER turn my back on her cause I don't want the one horn she has going up in an area it don't need to be.
They're such a good looking bird. I look forward to seeing their summer plumage.
Great series of photos, Debbie. Amazing to see the colour change.
The last shot is so pretty with the tree. I do enjoy the others.
SO CUTE!!!Such happiness...
Love those bright little patches of color. I recall the first time I saw a Goldfinch in winter rummage. I was sure I had discovered a new bird.
Gorgeous photos! I love their bright yellow plumage! That's a great state bird to have!
You have certainly captured a beautiful series of your state bird!

Happy Eid Mubarak Quotes
It's fun to see them change into their pretty summer yellows! Most of our Goldfinches have flown North now! They were very pretty when they left! Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs!
That’s fun watching them “change clothes”! I’ll have to wait until Oregon to see them.
They are beautiful, I sure hope we see more of them this year, as soon as the starlings leave, if they ever do, I think we will see more kinds of birds, they seem to push all the others out, although some of them are getting brave around them!
Simply WOW!
Breathtakingly lovely photographs here Debbie.
All the best Jan
I really love the colors of the Gold finch birds. Both the female and male are beautiful. It is interesting that they still change their colors a bit with season changes. I didn't know they were your state bird; that was fun to find out.
Thanks for these spectacular bird photos today.
Sending you loving thoughts and hugs!
