As I mentioned yesterday, the hubs took me to
Lake of the Lilies
searching primarily for the drake Wood Duck and I was lucky to see so much more.
I was happy to see the Wood Duck but when I first spotted him,
he was sleeping and almost completely out of view.
But I waited and waited and waited until alas, he finally woke up.
I was just thrilled that I had waited patiently,
he jumped in to the water and swam right past me and then right toward me.

He is one of the most stunningly beautiful waterfowl, and the Mrs. ain't bad either.
According to my bird book, the Wood Ducks can be seen in New Jersey year round.
In central New Jersey we rarely see Wood Ducks,
and this one just recently returned to this lake.
I hope he will be staying for the winter like he did last year.

Gorgeous photos of a most gorgeous duck! Their colours glow, don't they. Why, I do believe there is no-one who can capture the beauty of a photo's subject, quite like you, Debbie.
