Off Shore Grand Prix Boat Race

I grew up in this area
and for as long as I can remember Point Pleasant has hosted the

The race was Sunday.
We watched the first race, the smaller boats, from the boardwalk.
The racecourse is a small 4 mile oval in the ocean.
The boats run 6 or 7 laps, and they run as close to the shoreline as possible.
The boats reach speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour
and often lift completely out of the water.

The boardwalk was a great viewing spot but it was hot and humid so
we watched the bigger boats at the inlet,
at the start line.
We were able to sit in the car there and wait for the boats.

We also got to see the Jamaica come in.

We had a wonderful early dinner at the Off Shore,

Fried Shrimp

Shrimp Scampi

- we headed home with full bellies and happy hearts -

This is like if sportscars were boats! But the flying through the air freaks me out! ;)

I love this! I remember watching the poker runs on Lake Michigan with all of the big, fast cigar boats! The colorful paint jobs and the fast speed make this really enjoyable.

Yowza - 200 miles per hour in a boat! I can't even imagine how fast that must go passed! Your dinner looks yummy, too.
