It was last minute and spontaneous...because we are fun like that.
We snuck away for a few days...
we went here, to
Historic Mystic Connecticut
Oldest son Scott use to live in Connecticut, so we would visit here often.
Only about 3 hours from home, it is a nice, familiar place
to getaway for a few days.
Mystic Seaport is an outdoor museum for it's many ships and exhibits
and is home to a working shipyard used for the
preservation and restoration of older vessels.
A replica of
The Brant Point Lighthouse
The Charles W. Morgan
The Shipyard Village
Nautical Instruments Shop
Schooner L.A. Dunton
The Boathouse
The First Fire Truck
The Working Shipyard
Under this tent...
The Mayflower II
Built in 1955 in England, it is here for restoration.
The restoration will take about 2 years.
And I'm sure you were wondering if there were going to be some selfies...
- well, yes, of course there are -
we brought the tripod and here's what we got!

Brant Point Lighthouse.
The weather was perfect for this short getaway.
Today it was 65 degrees, blue skies with some pretty fair weather clouds.
Of course there is more...
stay tuned...

That's quite a welcome sign in the first photo.
My kind of place with those ships! Such a great place to visit! Great selfies!
Hello Debbie, what a ice getaway. It is a pretty scenic place to visit. I love boats and the lighthouse. Great selfies! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
What a fascinating place to visit. I don't know what it is about ships and lighthouses, but they make my heart sing. I rarely get to view either one, so I absolutely love your tour today! You two are so good at selfies!!
Wow, my kind of town, thank you for bringing us with you!
What a very cool little getaway. I love seeing all of those ships. I can see why you wanted to visit.
Lovely photos too. I always like your selfies.
What a wonderful place to visit...
Loved the visit! Amber and I were there in the late 1990's after a swim meet in Maryland. I bought a book at one of the bookstores there about sea captains and their wives - some actually traveled with their husbands.
You guys are always doing something cool!
Perfect time to go there! Before it becomes overrun with tourists!!!!
Oh I love that dragon bow art!!!!!
We were there, years ago, when the kids were little.
Youngest son was probably about 3. He didn't want to go on a ship, and was crying-his-bloody-head-off! We didn't know why!!!! Later we found out, he thought it was filled with pirates and they were going to carry him away.
Oh mercy, what a memory. -grin-
So lovely that you had this spontaneous holiday.
Lots of gentle hugs, Luna Crone
cool...makes me want to hunt for MYSTIC PIZZA in netflix
You kids? Y'all find the greatest places to visit!
So glad you were able to have a 'spur of the moment' time.
And, I know there will be lobster coming up; I saw it on FB and have been
craving ever since. :)

Oh my you have been out and about haven't you? Great shots and you and hubby look so adorable!
Spare of the decisions are fun and this looks like a wonderful trip. I would love to see all these old ships nad I am glad we have more modern fire trucks today!
Beautiful!!!!! Looks like a perfect way to spend the day.
Are you wearing Flip-Flops? You need a better support shoe, Missy!! I know. Your feet get hot--at least wear a slip-on Topsider, better protection and support. Hurmpf!!
Well, you're both adorable and in love, that is obvious and having as much fun as possible in your life. So neat you can get-away whenever you want to. I love that about you!
Wonderful getaway, Debbie! Nearly envious that you are so close to these great places!
I am in awe of the Mayflower restoration work!
Have a fun week!
