Sometimes, a good picture comes from the most unexpected place.
A detour, a back road, a body of water where you did not know there was one.
Sadly, this detour was because of a house fire, the road was closed and we took the detour...
And there it was, a marshy body of water and the hubs spotted an egret.
We spun the car around and the egret was immediately on guard.
He tried to hide and after a few clicks, he took off...
I couldn't get a flight shot!!
I didn't think these images would be any good but I ended up loving them.
I thought the grass added some real interest to the pictures.
I will add this spot to my list of spots to visit - if I want to see an egret.

You never know when a photo opportunity may present itself - these are lovely photo's, and yes, the grass does add to it!
Good wishes for the weekend
All the best Jan
"Egrets, I have a few, but then again, too few to mention."
Oh my what a lovely sight hiding in or is it among the greenery! Love it. Happy Saturday and a most Happy Mother's Day to you tomorrow Debbie.
It's hard to take a bad shot of an egret, huh.
Beautiful. So graceful. Sometimes detours present some really nice surprises. Thank you for wearing purple yesterday in support of those that have fibro. That is awesome!
Cool egret
He's beautiful and I agree with you that the marshes add interest.
Simply lovely.....
Great shots! Love them!
A lesson!
Take the photo, even if we suspect it may not be "purrrrfect." May be happily surprised. Something we would never know, unless we took-the-photo. :-)
Could apply in other parts of life, too.
I believe I'm to far North to enjoy them...Coffee is on
These are fantastic. The grasses are perfect.
Great photo!i love watching them stalk through the water!
beautiful photos!
enjoy your weekend <3
Your husband has a great eye. I would miss so much if I didn't take mine along with me. These are great shots!
Great shots, Debbie. :)
I'm sorry to hear of a house fire, though. There are fires all around these parts, and if we don't get rain soon, it's only going to get worse.
Happy Mother's Day tomorrow! :)
xoxo
I think they are such graceful looking birds.
Thinking of the folks with the fire - we had one, not fun!
Hi Debbie- no Kiska wasnt a rescue-- she was ripped away from her mother in Iceland-- she was only 3 years old. (very similar to Tilikum's capture-- the big orca at floridas Seaworld who recently died)She has lived at marineland in canada since 1979 and she is in solitary confinement and has been for 5 years now-- she has no family, no other whales or dolphins to swim with. Its so sad and pitiful and she just looks so sad and like she has given up. She gave birth to 6 calves in captivity and they all died. Yes-- the orcas are my passion-- i love them so! Thank you for your interest!!💙
I love egrets. Reed and I saw a big white one in the marsh near our house during last week's scooter adventure. So cool! Xoxo Andrea @ This Knitted Life
Your drives so sound like ours!!!!
Sorry to hear about the house fire but it's great when you come across something unexpected. Yes you did get great pictures of him in the tall grass, trying to hide :)
Hi Debbie, the egrets are lays a treat to see! Pretty photos!

Super pics Debbie. Beautiful and graceful birds.
Great shots of the Egret and the grass does add to the beauty of it all! Hugs~
Brilliant image shares~
Don't you love unexpected surprises...the Egret is wonderful and I too like the grasses in the shots.
I like the grass too as it really accentuates the birds shyness. Lovely shots
