Let's Make Soup...

Yesterday found me in the kitchen with a new recipe and lots of excitement.

The creamy base was so delicious,
the gnocchi were terrible (Rienzi Brand), the chicken was dry and lacked flavor...
if I make this again, I would use dark meat.

The ingredient line-up...

Brown cup up chicken...

One onion, one stalk of celery diced,
two cloves of garlic minced, one carrot shredded...saute'
add 1/3 of a cup of flour, 3 cups of milk, 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream, salt and pepper,
that's your base.

The kitchen is always a mess...

add the chicken back to the base...

spinach...

Pretty looking, but not amazing tasting.
Next time I will use dark meat and maybe rice, skip the gnocchi...
Creamy Chicken and Rice Soup,
I have ideas, it definitely has promise.

That really does look delicious! I'm so sorry it didn't turn out the way you had hoped though. I think rice would be perfect, and maybe even boiling the chicken so it doesn't get dry? I'm sure you'll be able to create something very yummy out of this recipe :)
Happy Tuesday to you and lots of hugs,
Beate

I have some new recipes for you. My office mate has given them to me and they are super easy and delicious! Chicken pot pie and a Chicken Rice soup. You'll like both I think. Next time I see you I'll give you copies.

Well it looks good... but the creamy base seems versatile enough to use for a variety of other soups. PS - your messy kitchen looks like mine on a good day.

Oh Debbie, you just made my FAVORITE soup! How I love Chicken Gnocchi Soup. It's what I usually order at Olive Garden and I enjoy making it at home too.

What time should I come for supper? {{smiles}} Thanks for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs to you!

Oh gnocchi. This is my favorite Italian dish.
I do it with tomato sauce. They are delicious.
Greetings.

I've never had gnocchi, and actually don't recall hearing about it before. But, your soup looks delish! I think using dark chicken would be better also, and that's what I use making chicken n rice. :)

This looks delicious, Debbie!
Maybe just a bad brand of gnocchi (?)
It's usually pretty yummy! Very filling though.

I am not much of a cook but I have never heard of gnocchi, you learn something new every day, when it comes to cooking I have not a creative touch at all and would not know how to change a recipe to make it better. Good luck when you give it another try

It does look yummy due to your beautiful photos. I loved the tutorial, the ingredients look very good. I think all good cooks have a messy kitchen; at least that is my excuse. Blessings for you!
