It's a "Shore" Thing!!

If you live on the Jersey Shoreline, you visit the ocean at least once per week.
It's like a religion, a commitment...it's like air, you need it to live.
Sometimes you don't have time to stay...you go, you look, you breathe, and say...
"I'll be back tomorrow"
and you will, because wherever you go, you are never too far away.

Sunday was a beautiful winter day,
blue skies, full sun, warm temperatures, it was divine.
If I were to give it a number, it was a "10"

This most recent storm, destroyed all of the beach access stairs.

There are no stairs, where there once was...just a 20 foot drop.

Our Jersey beaches suffered severe erosion, once again.
There were very few people enjoying the beach on this beautiful day,
because the beach access ramps are all closed and well blocked.
We were lucky to find one that was open and the stairs had been repaired.

Another view of the sea wall, the sand washed away.

But the ocean remains a constant, soothing and beautiful.

There we are...

Here's where we were able to access the beach, the only access to the beach for many miles.

We found a lot of Sea Glass and some pretty shells.
It was a really good day to be at the beach!

I love these photos. The colors are gorgeous and that shadow picture???? SOOOO cute. You guys are an inspiration for sure. I took Chase, Wade and Grant to the inlet yesterday and Wade kept calling it the outlet. So cute. They saw scuba divers and they were so interested in guessing what the divers could be looking for. Wade said, I think they're looking for some dinner. :)

Hello Debbie, the beach and ocean are always a lovely sight. I could live near the beach! I am glad you found the only access to the beach. The storm probably put a lot of sea glass on the beach for you. Love the shadow shot. Happy February, enjoy your new week!

I've been waiting to sit at a full screen computer to look at your past few days of blogs...so I can get the full effect of the photos!!!!! LOVE! The shadow of you and Chuck is adorable. And Those middle shots of just the ocean/sand/sky are so dreamy! I say this often, but mother nature's color palatte just can't be beat...or duplicated!

Those are such lovely beach pictures. And, girl, I love the shadow picture. Looks like you two are 20 feet tall and could conquer the world.

So sad about the corrosion. I'm glad you found an access. The photo's are so very beautiful.
They make me want to go, and actually hope to before long. :)

You are so fortunate to be so close to the ocean, Debbie.
The damage is so sad though. Hopefully all of those stirs will be repaired soon.
I am glad you found one that was.

I so envy you the ocean!! I could sit on a beach all day long!
I have painted a few seascapes but am planning on doing a 40 inch square canvas with sand and sea and breakers...I hope to capture the spirit of the water that shows in your photographs! Then - even though the ocean is far away - I can at least look at the painting!
LOVE love LOVE all your beautiful photos!!

You are so blessed to be near this beautiful beach. I loved all of the photos. The up close photos of the ocean are spectacular and I love the one of the two of you as shadows. It looked like a perfect day! Blessings and hugs~

How wonderful to have the beach all to yourselves (although sad for the reason why). The photos are beautiful - the color of the sea and sky are such a lovely blue. So nice to have a day to beach comb together. Love your sea-glass treasures! Hugs xo Karen

Sorry about the damage! When I was a child, my aunt and uncle owned an ocean-front cottage at Beach Haven, NJ. I remember when a hurricane took out their carefully planted trees and the furnace that was under the house.

It's lovely to walk along the beach, isn't it and listen to the waves crashing on to the beach and soak all that wonderful sunshine. Gorgeous photos...again, Debbie. My oh my, you found a lot of pretty sea glass...lucky you. I like the those houses peeking over the embankment.

Debbie, all of these pictures of the ocean are SO beautiful! The ocean is one of my most favorite places to be and I miss it like crazy. It's been 2 years and 4 months now since I felt the water on my feet, I wish I could go back right now. Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures, it makes me feel a little like I was there with you.
I'm sorry the storm damaged so much though! I hope they'll be able to rebuild it soon.
Have a fabulous week!
Lots of hugs to you,
Beate

You are SO lucky to live near the ocean. Such an invigorating, nurturing place to be.

I love the pic of you and your hubby in shadow, how cool is that.

Great photos and spring definitely seems to have arrived in your area. :-) I'm still expecting one more "blast" of winter, here in BC. It ain't over yet!

Have a great week, G

Truly soothing and beautiful, a definite 10. Fabulous sea glass finds, too.. I'm a beach comber at heart... I just happen to live about as far inland from any coastal beaches as possible! ;) If I lived near a coast, I would be there every week or more, too.
Some of our best visits / vacations to beach areas have been after big storms.. unfortunate about the damage, but I love the solitude.

Ahhhhhhh the beach......How lucky you are Debbie! If I lived by the shore I would be there as much as possible! I can't believe you found all of that gorgeous sea glass. I never find pretty stuff while I scavenge the beach. Wah!!!!!!
