Playing in the Yard!!!!

Playing in the yard = yard work. I like to refer to it as gardening but the older I get, the more I view it as work. I love the gardens and all the beauty they hold but maintaining them is a bit of a chore. Let's just say I use to love it more then I do now. We've had a lot of warm days this March, which always makes me want to get out, roll up my sleeves and play in the dirt. Last weekend we started by pruning all the roses and cleaning up all the areas around the roses. Today, we cleaned up most of the hydrangeas (I did a few last weekend), finished pruning all the spirea's and cleaned up the gardens around the front walk. Chuck did a complete overhaul of the bird feeding station, which involved washing and refilling all the feeders and washing all the windows. You can see how sparkly everything looks here......

it's hard to see, but we have 2 feeders suction cupped right to the windows
a goldfinch feeder in the center
and a suet feeder to the right.
This is where I take most of my pictures from, my home office/craft room/blogging room.....

he also cleaned and scrubbed the ones out in the yard
further away from the house.....

he scrubbed and filled the bird bath.......

I cleaned this area by the front door......

this garden.....

this garden.....

and this entire area under the bird feeders.....
there is a beautiful variety of hydrangeas here
old fashioned and big leafs!!!!!

We also put out all the Easter decorations, I will post pictures of that tomorrow. We had dinner at Hickory Hog, ribs, potato skins and an "onion loaf", the best barbecue I have ever eaten, followed by ice at Rita's. I'm not going to mention that they did not have any of my favorite flavors, so I had strawberry mango. I didn't really like it BUT of course, I ate it anyway!!!!

  1. That's a lot of flower beds - and yes, it looks like work to me too. Now the bird feeders and baths? Those are a necessary part of life. :)

    Yes, we're addicted...
