Reflections From The Garden

We have had a beautiful "blend" of warm sunny days and rain.
I like this combination, as it allows days indoors, doing inside things,
without the guilt of being indoors during nice weather.
We have not had to water the grass, plants or flowers, mother nature has taken care of that.
There have been enough gorgeous days for outdoor day trips and activities.
- win win -
I have been able to fit in and enjoy everything.

My White Azaleas received the perfect blend of rain and sun this spring and were stunning this year.

stunning also were the Rhododendrons but have since passed their prime.

You remember my pretty birdhouse,
we change out the flowers at the base every season.
It was time to plant for summer, the Vincas.

Here's the hubs,
he really likes using his drill and the auger tip for this job.

You can see the little holes it makes, making planting these quick...

and oh so fun.

We do the same thing around the mailbox.
We = the hubs!

Wildflowers

I planted all wildflowers and herbs in the above ground "trug" garden.

Dill for my butterflies.

Not much is blooming in the gardens right now, this Goldflame Spirea is currently very pretty...

and this is one of my many Hydrangeas.
As you can see, it will be soon be filled with colorful flowers.

Debbie, your flowers are looking beautiful. Your hubby has a great idea to use the drill tool for digging the holes. We are having another rainy day here. Take care, have a great day!

Very pretty gardens and a great helper. We get more rain days than sun and sadly I think that is what our summer is to be like.

Hi Debbie your flowers are gogeous! I am in NJ too, but have the hardest time getting my hydrangeas to even bloom at all. They were beautiful blue, and now nothing. Would you have any tips?

Your yard is so beautiful, I am especially impressed with the white azalea. You know the rain has been just the right amount and the right kind when a white blossom is perfect! I love watching the seasons unfold in beautiful gardens like yours The raised garden is a great idea and your sweetie using the drill to plant the seedlings made me smile. It really is a good idea but not one about half the population would never think of )))

There’s something truly calming about spending time in the garden on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Today, as the sun warmed the earth and the gentle breeze rustled through the leaves, I found myself reflecting on the simple beauty of nature’s rhythms. Each blooming flower, each buzzing bee, reminded me to slow down and appreciate the small moments that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. The garden is more than just a patch of green—it’s a sanctuary for the soul, a place where thoughts can wander freely and creativity can blossom. Taking time to connect with nature today left me feeling refreshed and inspired for the days ahead.

How nice, Debbie, to have an in-house gardener who puts a power tool to good use. Looking forward to future photos when the blooms have spread out. The azalea blooms are lovely, but sadly so short lived 😟

How wonderful, there is nothing better than getting a mix of beautiful sun and just the right amount of rain so that you don't have to water. Your flowers are looking wonderful. This year was our best for the Azalea plant we moved a few years ago, I guess it takes time for it to get acquainted with a new area. Your butterflies will be very happy for sure ;)

to properly fertilize hydrangeas, use a slow-release fertilizer in spring and midsummer. i apply triple phosphate and i get tons of blooms and mine often bloom more that once during the summer. endless summer hydrangeas, they bloom on old and new wood are a wonderful plant. i have big leaf and mountain hydrangeas, you can adjust soil ph to influence flower color, but this isn't a fertilizer. if you want to play with the color, i would go to a garden center for guidance with that!! i hope this helps!!

Beautiful! I see you are in full swing for planting season. Your in house gardener is doing a marvelous job. We have also had a mixture of rain and sun, and now it’s a tad chillier but warmer weather is on the way.
