Talking About The Reservoir

Here are a few more pictures of the reservoir
taken at the same time I took the Mallard pictures that I shared yesterday.

This reservoir use to be a gravel pit, and the township purchased it and turned it into this...
a great walking path only 5 minutes from home.
The town maintains it beautifully, you do not pass one piece of trash on your walk.
Each year they add items like this gazebo to enrich it's curb appeal.
You also see bird houses, bird baths and lots of flowers along the path.

Next came the bonus...

I think this is a Horned Grebe

perhaps in the middle of changing from winter attire to summer attire.
It had a very small amount of white on the tip of it's bill,
with a lot of white in front and on the sides.
It also had the trademark red eye.

If any of you birders have an opinion, please let me know in the comments.

Thats a really nice park, Debbie, they sure do keep it up nice and clean. Love the duck pictures. Those tulips are so pretty. They are long gone here, they bloom here in February usually. Hope your week is going good.

Lovely to see these photos, a very pretty area and enjoyed the grebes. I don't think I have ever seen one. Years ago we went to Butchart Gardens in Canada. They had turned a quarry into this beautiful garden. It was breathtaking. The owners of the quarry after it was depleted of all its resources, wanted to give something back to the community and Butchart was the result. Here's their website if you would like to take a look.
