The New York Sheep & Wool Festival

- Day Two of the Festival -

We finally got to see the sign...

Another perfect weather day!!

Leanne and Robin scoping things out as we walked in Sunday morning.

The Fair Grounds were beautiful.

I liked these outdoor booths, yesterday we spent most of our time inside the barns.

Good Karma Farm

On Sunday, we went to see all of the animals.

Leanne

At 11 a.m. we went to see the "Leaping Llama's"
Which they are now calling the Leaping Animals because so many breeds have joined in on the fun.
In this competition, the animals jump over a stick, clearing it to move on to the next round.
The bar is moved higher each round, if you knock it down, you're out.
The crowd really gets into this and there are a lot of "young" handlers guiding the animals.
There was even a nun - true story.

This little one wanted nothing to do with things...

and when I say nothing I mean...not interested at all!

And the winner is, this big boy!

It was another gorgeous day...

If you ever get the chance,
The New York Sheep & Wool Festival
at the
Duchess County Fairgrounds

What an adventure, unlike any festival I have ever attended.

oooooh and we were hungry as we left, and we headed straight to Buns for another burger.
The burger was better the second time!

Hello, I would love seeing all the animals. They are all so cute! I am not a knitter but the festival looks like a fun time. I assume you bought a lot of yarn. Wonderful images from your trip! Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

don't you hate when you're typing and it all goes away...

I was saying I can tell you hated every minute. The weather was so horrible, too.

Just an incredible day, of course even if it rained what an amazing gathering, and so much good karma! Great name for that farm, and all the critter's joyful interaction what a pleasure for us to see these adorable critters. This day will long be remembered, especially during the soon arriving season, WINTER!

It really draws a crowd and has something for everyone. Another blog I follow was there too and am not sure but think she had a tent as she is a spinner. She posted about her day on her blog http://cozymadethings.blogspot.com/ if you are interested.

It looks like a well done festival. We have a day called Lamb Down here, but it's not up to this festival's standard.

This does look like such a fun event. It looks like it is very well attended. I know that you had fun looking at all the different things and you captured so much of it on your magical camera. I loved the photo of Leanne; she looks like such a fun person and very beautiful.
I must say that I do love the animals. The fur is just so petable. The fur is just beautiful and I know it evenutally becomes beautiful yarn.
The stubborn goat is adorable. I am amazed that they can teach them to jump. My brother owned a place in Utah called Big Rock Candy Mountain. He had a few animals on it. He had a buffalo and a Llama. The Llama wasn't friendly at all. Infact, it would try and kick you if you got close and it would blow stuff out of it's nostrils. My Dad really didn't like to care for the Llamas very much.
Then when we lived in Spokane, Wa. There was a Liama farm just a few block from us. I used to love to stop and watch them. They are beautiful creatures.
Sending loving thoughts your way! Hugs~

It did look like a wonderful day, and I know how much you love those animals so this was probably so fun, I didn't know they jumped that high. So glad you were able to go, you will have to share some of the pretty yarns you found, I know you brought some home with you ;) Have a great remainder of your weekend!
