Surviving Sandy

As I sit here at my laptop, for the first time since Monday
I am not sure what to write.
My emotions are all over the place, my eyes fill with tears.

We survived "Sandy".
The beautiful home that Chuck built for our young family
28 years ago, is intact.
We did not suffer any damage,
we did not loose any of our beautiful trees.
To say that we were lucky, is an understatement.

Much of the Jersey Shore as we know it, is gone.
But we have so much to be thankful for...
I love my Jersey Shore!!

We will live here forever...we will ride our bikes again,
on the boardwalk and along our beautiful beaches.

Here we are on October 27th, in Spring Lake
playing in the leaves.

Because it was on my Autumn bucket list
and the hubs wanted to be sure I got to do it!!

Oh Debbie I have been thinking and wondering if you are OK. I am so glad you and Chuck are OK. I am so sorry about your friends, neighbours and your beautiful Jersey shore.
You will indeed ride your bikes down that dock along your sore and things will get better Debbie. I am just so happy you are safe. Hugs my friend, Chuck built a good strong house and you both are strong so you will get through this. Don't cry OK HUGS again. B

My Dear Debbie: With every newscast I watch, I cry for you and the people of Jersey Shore. It's such a sad, sad thing. My tears quickly turn to a smile though knowing that you and your love and still well. Don't let go of each other. *HUGS*

Thank you so much for emailing me in regards to your safety. I have spoken of you so much, Roger even ask if I had heard from you. I am so relieved you are safe. I have seen hurricanes destroy the Louisiana coast so many times in my life time. I never get used to the destruction these storms hand out.

It's great to hear an update and I'm very happy you got through Sandy without any damage! I know not everyone was as fortunate. It will take a long time for some people to have normal again. Glad you guys are okay!

I am so thankful that you and Chuck are okay and that your house stood. That you didn't loose any trees. I prayed and prayed for you. I know those things can be rebuilt but the horror will be felt for a long time.
I am so thankful that you wrote a post. I see the pictures and I am just so sick at all I see. I think of the photos that you have taken in the past and know that so much will have changed. But I am thankful you are okay.

Oh Debbie, so good to hear from you again. You have never been very far from my thoughts. I can only imagine how terrifying that storm was and the effects of it.
Your Chuck knows how to build a good strong home. I'm so sorry for all of your friends and neighbours.
Please continue to take care of yourselves. Sending you all lots of hugs :))

Oh Debbie, I get it completely.
At times like this it's very hard for me to live so far away. My heart aches for my home-state. I'm glad you and Chuck are alright and your lovely house is still in one piece.

Hi Debbie, I am not sure if your electric is back on. But, I am so glad to see you do a post. I am so happy that you, hubby and your place are all OK. The photos are really sad, the Jersey shore has become one of my favorites place to visit for the birds. So, I am hoping everything goes back to normal for everyone in the state of NJ. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of SANDY! Take care and I hope your week is better than the last!

The photos you have taken over the past year or so will become that much more meaningful to you and Chuck as much of what you captured is likely gone.

You have each other and your beautiful house -- the rest will take care of itself. xo

I have been thinking of you, Debbie, and hoping that you were okay. So nice to see a picture of you & hubby smiling and having fun.
Knowing how much you love the Jersey Shore, I knew all the damage would be upsetting to you. (Same - on a smaller scale - with our OBX, which I shared on today's post.)
Take care, my friend!

So glad to read that you and your family and home made is safely through, Debbie, as I have been checking your blog regularly for any updates. We have family and friends in the central part of NJ (Plainfield, N Plainfield, Greenbrook) who remain without power a week later. We have been watching the news reports online and it is truly so hard to bear as we also are native NJ-ites, who last lived in Beachwood so close to Toms River, which we also saw was flooded from Sandy. We are taking a short break from blog posting.

Glad to hear you are ok. I have lived in NJ all of my life and my heart just breaks every time I see a picture or article about the storm. We made out ok here in Northern NJ but we are still without power - which is nothing compared to what so many people have gone through. Hang in there and be "Jersey Strong!"

I am so grateful that you made it though the Sandy and that your home is OK and the trees. We were sending prayers. I do know how scary disasters can be. When we lived in Spokane, Wa. We were evacuated from our home for 3 days during a firestorm and then a few years later we were without electricity for a few days due to an Ice Storm.
I loved the fun picture of the both of you. It was ways sweet.
Blessings!

wow... wonderful to be able to smile... stand in awe and be thankful that life will be new again ... beautiful attitude. those of us on the west coast that pray... were praying for y'all... and will continue to as the recovery for those hit hard begins/goes on... we were hit with a huge flood a few years back... and helping clean up the devastation just 25 miles South of here... was eye opening.. and wonderful to see so many walks of life come together to help each other... I am sure this too shall take place on the East coast... coming together to love/help one another... =)
