Saturday Critters #596

The rain has been relentless here in New Jersey...it has rained every day for as long as I can remember.
But, in addition, we have had 2 really good storms.
My definition of a really good storm...
the house got dark, in the middle of the day, drenching rain came down...
there was thunder and lightning too.
Now that's a storm I enjoy, with a bonus, I get more birds at the feeders.

If you follow my blog, you know I take photographs of my yard birds from my office window.
I open the window, hang out and snap away...

this is the view I have of the Nuthatch from the window, without zooming in.

Zooming in on the Nuthatch, my Nikon CoolPix 950, captures this.

Male Cardinal

Blue Jay

Robin RedBreast

Catbird

Song Sparrow

Great pictures as always. We have had a lot of rain here in NH. This past week was wonderful but last night we had a big thunder and lightning storm and it will rain most of the weekend and it looks like the week ahead is unsettled.

We are also in NH, like Acorn Hollow, and as she noted there's been weeks with continuous days of rain here as well. What a bonus for you in getting these great bird close-ups, Debbie. You have captured great detail from your window.

Thanks for the info on your camera and lens. I have an older all-in-one digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix with a zoom of about 600 and an f2.8 lens. Recently, I bought a new Lumix for upcoming travels this fall. It's fairly compact with a nearly 700mm zoom. I will be trying it out this weekend on our anniversary getaway.

Your close ups are always so special. I love the colors on the Blue Jay and the robin! We had one day of misty rain but sun and heat now. Hard to find a good balance! Hugs!

I am so surprised that the birds don't fly away when you appear at the window. Great shots as usual.

I saw a Gray Catbird here today. They aren’t common here. It was a thrill to hear it singing.
