On Friday, we traveled to Peddlers Village, in Pennsylvania...
One hour and 15 minutes from home, it is a fun, enjoyable ride, primarily highway without traffic.
We have been here many times, they host a lot of festivals, and a huge Christmas light display
but on Friday we went to see
- Stories In Sand -
Three teams of master sand artists turned 330 tons of locally sourced sand into these six spectacular sculptures showcasing stories and characters from
Mother Goose, Alice & Wonderland, Peter Pan, Winnie The Pooh, Once Upon A Time and Jungle Book.
It took the sand artists approximately 125 hours to create each sand sculpture.
Held together initially because the sand is wet,
they are then periodically sprayed with a solution of water and wood glue.
They were created here and finished in June and have held up very well so far.

Wow, they are all beautiful sand sculptures.
Amazing to see all this creativity just with sand.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Thanks for the tour; those are stunning. I didn't know they added water with wood glue in it. Linda in Kansas
These are amazing and such wonderful detail! I've never seen a sand sculpture
except in photos - they must be incredible in person. Such a cute photo of you two, having fun together. x K
These artists are incredibly talented. Amazing sand sculptures as are your photos Debbie. I didn’t know about the water and wood glue.
Those are pretty darn cool. For a second, I thought that we had been to Peddlers Village when we visited our daughter in Greencastle but it must have been a similar village as this one is no where near where they are.
Beautiful sculptures! Your two look very happy, nice photo
Beautiful works! It's a pity that art with sand is ephemeral.
These are fantastic, Debbie. Thanks for sharing.
How cool are they!!! I wonder now that the sand has wood glue on them what they will do with the sand afterwards.
My favorite was the Cinderella one :)
