The Osprey have returned to New Jersey.
Adult Osprey return each year to a nest in the same area in which they were born,
often the same nest they occupied the prior year.
If you observe a pair of Osprey in late February or early March,
they are probably the same pair you saw during the previous year.
Osprey are very large, distinctively shaped hawks,
also called sea hawks, river hawks or fish hawks.
Here for many years it is always fun to watch for their return.

Amazing pictures of the Osprey.
These are fantastic! How cool to have a nest you can photograph!
Yay for the return of the Osprey. I’m watching for their return here.
What a treat to see this close up.....
Awesome pics, wow that is a big nest, such a pretty bird, and yes I think you were spotted that's for sure :)
Great series on the Ospreys! I heard they have returned to places in Maryland too. I have not seen one yet.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend.
Beautiful photos of hawk. It is nice that you could capture the nest as well.
Awesome shots. I would not want to be at the receiving end of those talons.
Are those special nesting posts the conservationists set up? Were they endangered a one point? We have falcons and some brown hawks in Kansas, but your's are really pretty. Linda in Kansas
Very nice with returning birds!
Clearly you were spotted but it seems he/she is too busy to care. Enjoy your weekend and spring is on the way!
Lovely shots of the Osprey, and good to hear that they are back.
Wow, Debbie! I am always amazed at the clarity and beauty of your photos.
That must mean that spring is coming!

Great photos! Thank you for sharing!
Once in a while I see one. I like watching them swoop down, almost straight down, to snatch up a fish.
Fabulous pictures. He's definitely keeping an eye on you! I know Ospreys are very territorial from observing them, but didn't realize that they return to the same nest each year. Thanks for sharing that. (Eagles do that too, I am sure you know that already!)
Wonderful photographs of the Osprey.
All the best Jan
