Coots are winter birds here...
but there is one Coot that has been at Lake of the Lilies the entire summer.
Swimming around with whom ever is available, it is easy to photograph.
The American Coot is a dumpy waterbird, with huge lobed toes that facilitate swimming.
The Great Egret is a pure white, stately, heron like bird that visits New Jersey only in summer.
This huge waterbird, The Mute Swan, will be leaving soon, they only stay here during the summer.
Our summer birds are late leaving, perhaps because of all of the warm weather we have been having.

That Mute Swan is too beautiful. What a pity, I hope he stays a little longer.
That last photo is gorgeous! Love how pretty the water is in all your pics. It's only going to be 70 here today and we think we are freezing! hahaha! Hugs!
Your pictures are wonderful, Debbie. I love that last one too! There's something about birds' wings that fascinate me.
So pretty.
That last shot of the Swan is fabulous!
I smiled at the contrast between the Coot and the stately Swan. Great pictures.
Great pics of the birds, our hummingbirds have left. Everything seems to be a bit off this year
These are beautiful captures!

Debbie, you have shown that coot in the best possible way! Love those photos. And isn’t that blue of the water striking with the egret!. I’ve never seen either of these birds here. Thank you for sharing.
Hello Debbie,:=) The Mute Swan is a regal looking bird just gliding along in the water, but when it stretches out it's wings it's totally majestic, and you caught it all with your camera and your images are beautiful. Lovely shots of the Great Egret, and even though the Coot is not my favourite water bird it's grey feathers shown in your images are beautiful.
These are beautiful! The blue water is always a great background!
