Lion King

Has anyone been to see The Lion King Movie?

We went back on July 21st, at 5 pm, we never go that late in the day,
but it was a month ago so I can't remember why we did.
And...we paid full price, they usually charge us the senior rate, I guess we look old,
but on that day we must have looked pretty good.
That is my memory jar behind the tickets,
it holds my memories for this year and last, it's getting pretty full!

Getting back to the movie, I liked it, but I wanted to love it.
There were parts I loved
but there were so many parts that I did not love.
The hyaenas, not pretty, very scary.
Scar tells the pride that Mufasa and Simba were killed in the stampede,
not nice, not true.
When Simba collapses in the desert, that tore at my heart strings.

The parts I did enjoy...
the love between Mufasa and Simba.
I loved Zazu...Mufasa's most trusted adviser.
Zazu is a prim and proper hornbill bird with a strong sense of personal dignity.
I liked Rafiki, he is a baboon who serves as sort of a shaman to the royals of pride rock.

This opening shot of the movie was real.
The rest consisted of 1,600 computer generated animated images.

If you are interested in the making of Lion King there is a great video here,
that shares all of the details and care that went in to making the film.

Hello, Debbie! Hubby and I did go and see the New Lion King. Like you, I enjoyed parts of the movie. I do think the first version and the music in the first movie was better too. Have a happy day and a great new week!

It is interesting that you have a jar in which to store your memories. It seems that based on your recent blogs some wonderful birds will be among your best memories and you can't put those in a jar. They will forever be in that special compartment of your mind, however.

I haven't see the movie but all my grandsons did. They liked a lot. Day after day I teach them to love the animals.

I think the movie would be too sad for the grandchildren. Thanks for the heads up!

No, actually Debbie this is the first I've heard of it. I'm not much of a movie buff anymore. :)

I imagine this version would be more intense with real looking animals than the cartoon, we watched the first one quite often with our daughter, still have the vhs of it, LOL! Around here you have to ask for the discounts they just don't give them out.

I haven't seen the Lion King. I don't go to many movies, but hope to go to more this year!

I've heard it was a good movie- also the new Aladdin. But, I have in my brain the old animated movies for both, and I just don't want to ruin those memories. Loved both movies...the Lion Kind more, but both. We don't go to the movies...but when the dh retires and we have more time, I hope to do so. Have a blessed day.

I haven't seen the new Lion King.. nor did I see the new real live version of any other Disney classics.. I just can't wrap my head around all these new versions.. maybe I'm holding on to too much childhood nostalgia. I did like the Jungle Book.

We rarely go and see films … in fact I'm trying to remember the last time!
But interesting to read your post, it could help all those who do.

Have a good week, ours has started nice and sunny.

All the best Jan

That's a good way to look at it. It wasn't a mistake, you just look SO good!

I can not remember the last time I went to the movies. Maybe The Last Jedi? Oh...wait...it was Pokemon Detective Pikachu.

The little lion is adorable. I want to give him a hug! Roar scratch rarararr...maybe not.

Debbie,
This new Lion King montage is amazing!
The little lion Simba looks real in this version!
And the story of the exiled lion of his kingdom, who must discover how to grow and resume his destiny as a royal heir to the plains of the African savannah, is for all ages!
I started following your blog!
A hug!

I posted a reply yesterday using my laptop. It went crazy so I deleted it. Thanks for this post on the movie; "Lion King". I loved the first one and will try to get to this one. The movie does have a deeper meaning to the plot.
Blessings and hugs for this one!
