Oh The Weather Outsides Been Crazy!!

The weather here in New Jersey has been nuts.
I don't mind the cold weather or single digits - it's winter.
I don't have anywhere to go and I like to hunker down with a nice big bowl of homemade soup.
Back on February 2nd, I made this...

Cream of Potato Soup
I did not have any real bacon, I used bacon bits and it was a big disappointment without real bacon.
Funny how missing just one ingredient can make such a huge difference.
To start the soup, I sauté the onion in a little bit of the bacon fat,
then we crumble the bacon on top, it just wasn't the same.

We got a dusting of snow...

Not enough for a Snow Angel or a Snowman but enough to draw a cute little heart on the deck rail.
Good thing I got outside right away, it melted off quickly.

We are home to raccoons and squirrels,
this could be either but I think it is our raccoon wandering around.

A few days later, it felt like summer and I made Deviled Eggs and Pasta Salad.

This time I had bacon in the house, that is bacon on top of the eggs,
I also add a little to the yolk mix.

My Amaryllis bloomed, three big beautiful blooms.

My Orchid has new blooms as well, soon it will showcase 13 flowers.

I have been cooking, crocheting and cleaning, the three "C's" but not much cleaning really.

The three c's and not cleaning? Sounds like a good deal to me. I love deviled eggs and all your flowers surely brought a smile.

Beautiful cheery post, snow heart and all, and pretty accurate on the raccoon I'm thinking too. Those blossoms are something
special too!

I'm mainly into the 2 "C's".
Crocheting and cross stitching.
I did clean and hurt my back, which proves to me that cleaning house is dangerous work!

Have a nice week.

My favorite thing in the whole world, deviled eggs. Next your soup is wonderful even if you did have bacon bits.
I love the little prints of your visitors. Well, it is winter, so I am inside a bunch too, cooking is such a nice way to pass the time. Have a lovely day Debbie

Your Amaryllis is beautiful, what a wonderful colour.
Enjoyed seeing all of your photographs.

Soup is a wonderful food when the weather turns cooler in winter months.

All the best Jan

I really must start cooking, cleaning and would love the crocheting too. You inspired me with the photo of your yummy soup. It’s call here and there is nothing better than warm soup. We have had more than a dusting of snow. I did love the heart you made.
Now I’m in the mood for deviled eggs; they look so good.
The flowers are spectacular. It makes me realize that spring isn’t far away.
Blessings and hugs!

A touch of real bacon with potato soup is always the best! I enjoy hunkering down in winter. All we seem to be getting is rain, though.

Everything is better with bacon! It’s like the best secret ingredient ever! I save the bacon grease and use it to flavor green beans and things.
I thought of you this afternoon when dozens of tiny little birds were at the front feeder. I don’t take good pictures but I thought if I could get one you might know what they were....but they were gone when I came back out with my phone!

Aw - too bad about the soup. I hate when I go to all the trouble and something doesn't turn out well. Oh well, live and learn. Love the tracks in the snow and the snow-heart. You have some gorgeous blooms - so nice to help with the winter blahs. I am so looking forward to spring!

I can do the first C! (Well and the third one too, although sometimes it looks like I’ve forgooton how ). Love the snow heart. That would be about plenty of the white stuff for me.. I love looking at people’s snow pix, but I hate being cold.

Debbie - it really made me smile to see the swing from Potato Soup to Deviled Eggs - kinda like the wild swings in your weather! Very jealous of your flowers, especially the orchid. Our low tonight is likely to be -4 F. Spring seems a far way off … Enjoy your week ahead!

Love your heart you made in the snow :) and the little tracks they left behind, we had tracks coming from our bird feeder to the back door, but I think it was a cat. I have never tried bacon in my deviled eggs, may have to try that next time. oh your flowers are looking terrific, how fun is that, how wonderful to have a touch of spring in winter :)

Bacon is lovely isn't it. Your soup looks delicious but know what you mean.
I like how you've used bacon in devilled eggs... they look so yum.
