Outlander Cowl Project
I am now prepared to reveal the "knitty-gritty" (pun intended),
dirty details of my knitting project.
August 25th, was my last knitting lesson.
This is our knitting spot on the

under this great tree, where there's always a cool breeze
and some gentle sunlight.

And this is Leanne, my amazing knitting teacher...
she has worked so hard to fix the mistakes in my cowl.
Now before we go any further...is she not gorgeous?!?!
I am so lucky to have the best and the prettiest knitting teacher in the
whole wide world.
She worked tirelessly on this baby, see it in her hands,
but she was not able to completely fix the mess I made.
The shell is pointing to where the mistake begins.
When I got home, I decided to view number one cowl as a practice piece,
and that I was going to start over.
I left the original the way it was, bought new needles and yarn
and began the new and "to be" improved, (i.e. no mistakes),

Things did not go as planned, as I have once again made the same mistake.
It is a mystery to all involved,
this is a basic pattern, not very hard to follow,
a piece I should be able to create.
I have sent Leanne so many pictures of the mistake,
and she is baffled as well.
(Note to self, buy Leanne a thank you gift)!!
So I have taken Leanne's advice and stashed them both away, for now.
I am not a quitter, so I will revisit this project at some point.
So what's on my needles now, I am working on my
Guernsey Wrap
I have passed the halfway point, no major mistakes...
and it looks great!!

Good morning, Debbie. I agree with Mac above practice makes perfect right? You seemed to be determined to get it right and I think you will. What a pretty spot to have a knitting lesson. Have a happy day!
It looks pretty, mistake or no, and in the end you are always most aware of the little mistakes - when you wear it nobody will notice them!
Leanne has the right idea. Put it away for a little bit. You will figure it out. It can get very frustrating. What a great place for a knitting lesson! Good luck on your cowl. It will be beautiful in the end for sure!
Putting it away for a while is great advice! I know this because at some point in every project, my frustration max is reached and I have to do just that. It nearly always works. BTW, I've never, ever NOT made a mistake on a project, so don't let it get you down! 😉
Practice does indeed make perfect ;-) It's a beautiful colour - you'll get it soon enough!
Fingers crossed it will be third time lucky. Love the beautiful colour of the yarn.
Sometimes, shelving a project is the best decision. Even though your classes are over, maybe Leanne could rewrite that part of the instructions. Different wording helps. Good luck with all your knitting!
I love those colors. How interesting that you made the same mistake in the same place. I know that I started doing something with my hooking. I think mine if from turning my hand a certain way. Could you be doing that too? I love, love, love knitting post. Yes, you have a beautiful teacher.

I've never got on with knitting, my dear mum loved to knit and made some amazing things ... but practice does help. I wish you luck

You have picked a beautiful colour for your cowl. If it is named after the Outlander series then it is even better as it is the colour of heather. I think it will be lovely when you have wrestled it into submission!

I think you are very wise to step back for a while. I often find that tasks are much easier when we've had a chance to rest them for a while. Better to continue on and improve our skills, and then you'll go back, make that beautiful cowl and wonder what on earth the problem was. You are an amazing lady Debbie and have come so far in your knitting skills, I've seen your work :) They all seem to be gorgeous, even your cowl.
What a fabulous place to knit. I would put it into timeout, but in all honesty, no one will notice the problem once its on.
Gosh that is a lovely place to take lessons. You do have a beautiful and talented teacher.
I really don't think that mistake is noticeable at all; you need to complete and wear it. I especially love the color.

This is a beautiful piece. Sometimes a good sleep, or a little time away is all that's needed.
Oh no I hope it works out in the end. I don't call them mistakes I call them signature rows!
that is so weird, I give you a lot of credit, I usually give up pretty quickly with my knitting and crocheting if I don't get it right, it's funny because I have a lot of patience with other things, I guess it just depends. So nice that you found a good teacher that will stick with you and try to help.
