You can do it. It's really very easy, especially with the chickadees. Black oil sunflower seeds are their favorite, so I don't put that in the feeders. They have to get it from my hand. I spend a lot of time sitting in the yard watching them and taking pictures, so they get used to me being there. It is really a small jump to them eating out of your hand. You should try it. It works best in the winter.
