Bye, Bye, Christmas...You Will Be Missed

The decorations are packed away, the floors have been vacuumed and mopped...
and things around here seem fresh and renewed.
There is a calm about the house and although I miss the Christmas decor,
I am enjoying the fresh cleanliness that has come over the house.
This is how home looks today, without any "staging"!

Here are pictures of the "mess zone"...our shared home office/craft room/dining room.
My "desk" is to the right,
you may have guessed that, the hubs is messy, his work and computer are on the left.

Fireplace in the Living Room, the stone goes all the way to the upstairs!

I am not a minimalist, but everything in my home has purpose or meaning.

Now, I look forward to having more time to enjoy the 1000 hobbies I already have.
And time to explore something new...
I need a new craft for the "new to you make along" challenge that I will be participating in.
If you have a suggestion, mention it in the comments.
I am thinking about watercolors, I have worked with paint, but never with watercolors.

What is the wood or stone thing in the second to last photo?

it is the back of the fireplace that faces the living room, what you are looking at is in the entryway. i am going to add a mother picture!

First of all, I think you should try watercolors... it's my favorite 'paint' technique. (Did you notice how they used the watercolors in that book (The boy, the mole, etc.) - just a splash of color. Anyway, I also want to say that your house is really beautiful... still noticed the Trug! And if you could see my computer room, you would never call your hubby's area messy. But I do agree that things should be functional. We turned our 'dining room' into a game room for the grandkids, and a puzzle room for DH. We have a large dining room table in the front room which we use for gatherings, but mostly for my painting or quilting, etc.
And I have to ask (though I hope it's not too personal) do you have trouble with those stairs with your MS? Oh, I also envy your counterspace in the kitchen...

Watercolours sound like a great idea. You are so creative, whatever you decide will be wonderful!

Your home reflects peace and harmony, Debbie. Love it.

I have done both watercolor and oil. Watercolor is good because if you make a mistake you can always tear it up and start again. They are very different mediums.

Love the photos Debbie. We still have the Christmas tree up and the cards and the crib. We keep the Christmas season.
Good luck with looking for new hobbies.

God Bless,

Your home is so lovely and so clean, right now mine feels like a tornado has gone through, it is amazing how hard it is to keep up with a new kitten around the house. I still have almost everything still up, had to take down a couple things the kitten just wouldn't leave alone, we usually take everything down by the 6th of January.
Watercolor sounds like a good way to go, I look forward to seeing what you chose :)

Beautiful home. I love all the natural light. We still need to take down our Christmas decorations. Maybe this weekend.

hi rian, the stairs "could" present a challenge for me if i allowed them to, but i don't. i come down in the morning and up at bedtime. other than that, i stay on the first floor. i do laundry when the hubs is home and he carries everything up and down for me. i keep some things downstairs that i might not, if i were able to go up and down randomly whenever i wanted. i am organized and plan my days out, knowing what i will need. i have gone up and down on my butt when my MS flares up and it is not that difficult. that was not too personal, not much is off limits for me!! and i love the layout of my kitchen, it's not big but perfect for me!! happy new year!!

Your home looks lovely Debbie.
We still have a few Christmas decorations to take down, which shall be done over the weekend.

Good luck with choosing a new hobby, I think watercolours sounds a good choice.

Wishing you a Happy New Year.

All the best Jan

I was here earlier on my iPAD and more often than not it won't let me make a comment. I hope I figure it out one day! Anyhow, back on my old laptop and enjoying looking through your photos for a second time. Each was a delight and you have a beautiful home Debbie. I enjoy your decorating style very much. Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family Debbie. You have a beautiful home and I think watercolour painting would be a good thing to try.

Our tree and decorations are also down, along with the outside lights. I'll admit, I'm always a little bummed when Christmas is over.

You should do watercolor for sure. I love that you do these kinds of things. I play the piano. I want to practice more and learn new pieces this year.
Your home is lovely. I still have my decorations up and right now it looks like such a job to take it all down and do the cleanup.
I know it will feel so good when I get it all done.
Blessings and hugs!
