I have a few more images of the Wood Duck to share,
these were taken last Saturday when we visited
Lake of the Lilies.
I have not been out this week, the only pictures I have are from my yard,
my song birds which I featured yesterday!
This Mute Swan appears to be injured.
Even more interesting, there appears to be a small green fish on it's knob.
Aren't they lovely?
Pictured here are males, they have a striking green stripe on their head,
from their eye to their neck.
I did see a few Lesser Scaup's, this is a female.

Hello,
The wood duck is beautiful. I feel sorry for the swan, maybe it was attacked by a napping turtle? The Swans, Wigeons and the Scaup are pretty ducks. Your photos are awesome. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day. Have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
The colors or the wood duck is magnificent!!!
I wonder if that is a fishing lure stuck on the swan causing injury. Is there an animal rescue group or park management you could call?
Hi Debbie :) The swans sure are lovely and the wood duck photos are lovely!
How strange to see that little fish...is it a lure caught on him? Love your beautiful wood ducks! You take the best close ups my friend! Enjoy your weekend. Hope you can get out in nature!
Hello. I am worried about that swan. Can you call animal rescue? I think the fishing lure is stuck in its beak and it can't eat...
Wood Duck is so beautiful.
Have a nice weekend.
i should have done that already, but i am going to do it now. i did not notice the fishing lure until i downloaded the picture. in fact, i was not even sure the swan was hurt!!
HI Debbie, I agree with Diane, I think that little fish could be a lure. It maybe stuck in the swan's mouth...so sad to think. Hope someone can get close to help if it is injured. You have some great photos of all the water birds. I am amazed at the wood duck's markings and so many colors. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Beautiful photos!
Have a wonderful weekend!
That male Wood Duck is a highlight in the bird world in my opinion. I hope to see one in the future. I saw American Wigeon on a recent bike ride. I hadn’t seen them before so they are a highlight.
As always, love seeing your photo's, Debbie
xoxo
I am always blown away by your pics!
Just looking at the Wood Duck, it seems that he knows how beautiful he is.
this wood duck is such a beautiful bird. And your photos is gorgeous.
Poor mute swan. It is injured for sure. Should be taken care of. I do hope you can report it somewhere so the swan can get help if possible. :)
Beautiful ducks! The woodies colors are gorgeous! Having had fishing lures stuck in my own skin I know they aren't always easy to remove.
Marvelous pictures! Swans can get aggressive so I hope an expert can get close enough to help it.
Maybe that was a fishing lure. Would explain why the swan was not well. Nature and man don't always exist well. Very lovely photos.
The wood duck is just so beautiful.
I too think that could be a fishing lure on the swan ...
All the best Jan
The markings on that duck is just amazing, so colorful and neat patterns, I don't think I have seen that last one either, I like how their feathers almost look like suede!
Oh, the Wood Duck is a beauty; loved the photos. I feel sad for the Swan; I hope it is OK. I do love swans. I think they are such a beautiful bird and kind of regal.
Sending hugs your way!
Just wow! Beautiful. Between lures and fishing lines damaging the birds it’s enough to change your image of fishermen as good outdoor sportspeople.
I have enjoyed all your bird/duck photos lately, but this collection is particularly stunning. Well done you!
