Saturday Critters ~ 356 ~

I am trying to work at my desk...
but there are Monarch Butterflies flying about outside my window.
I am surprised to see them this late in the season,
which means I must not miss the opportunity to go outside and take pictures.

Out I go, they are dancing around on the butterfly bush, playing hard to get.
I am patient,
I focus on the Carpenter Bees that are there sucking up all of the pollen, their pollen sacks are full.

The Cabbage White Butterflies are happy to pose for pictures...

The Monarch Butterflies settle down and now they pose nicely for pictures...
I am so happy to oblige.
They look "new"...they are not torn or tethered.

I must include pictures of the Knockout Roses,
they are still full of blooms
and so unexpectedly glorious!!

Oh how I love the Monarch and I don't think I saw any of those this summer here. Boohoo! Love your roses too. We are cutting ours back now to bloom in the winter. Enjoy your weekend. Hope the weather is nice to get outside...hope ours is too! Hugs!

What a feast these lovely flowers make for all the little garden creatures flying in for lunch.

Old-fashioned rose gardens are rare -- your photos don't show the style of planting of these rose bushes. The blossoms and the butterflies are just beautiful

We used to see monarch butterflies everywhere in Hawaii. I hardly see them at all now.

A friend who tags monarchs told me the late season butterflies are stronger and more likely to make it to Mexico. Love reading your comments on my site. I hope your weekend is going well! Hugs!

Gee Debbie, It almost looks like summer around your place. I love seeing the flowers, bees and butterflies. Do you remember how many butterflies you helped raise? Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

Our insects are in short supply now. The butterflies are gone. How fortunate to get photos of a monarch, Debbie. A beauty!

hi susie...i started to keep track, but then it got out of control and i lost track. i really wish i had kept up with it. i have at least 50 in chrysalis right now that will emerge in the spring. next year i will try to keep track of them, they come and go in so many groups and it gets a little overwhelming. at the end of the day, i can't remember how many or if i ever wrote it down!!

Beautiful, bright, colorful pictures, enjoyed them! That little cabbage butterfly truly looked like it turned it's little "head" and was posing so prettily for you!! LOL I loved the pictures in the previous post too....the pretty fountains and things at Longwood. That place is GORGEOUS....I would sure love to go someday.

Nice that you were able to get some pics of more than just the butterfly you went after. We are on a little trip right now, went up to Michigan to visit family and couldn't get over how much flowers are still going strong, that and the beautiful leaves are so nice to enjoy!
