Greeting Cards

I have saved every greeting card the hubs has ever given to me,
and there are a lot.
He wrote to me when I was 18 and in Nursing School, I have every single note and card.
I am a card person, my family knows that...I much prefer a card over a gift.
Son Michael always sends me two cards on holidays.
One sweet and mushy one, telling me what an awesome mom I am,
and one funny card, depicting something humorous from his younger years.
I have all of the cards the boys have given to me also,
they are in a scrapbook.

I needed to do something with the cards the hubs has given me.
Get them out of the very big chest they are in and find a way to display them.
What's the point of saving them if you never see them anyway.

Easy, peasy, I made them into a book of sorts.
Of course,
I will be making a lot more of these, if I plan on doing it with all of the cards I have saved.

This "book" starts with 2014 and ends now.
There are 26 cards, that's what fit comfortably on the binder rings.

It opens and lays flat, and it is a great way to put the cards out so we can enjoy them.

I would have preferred to start with the oldest cards and work forward,
but that would have been a little harder.

It's a big chest and those old cards are on the bottom.
I would have to take them all out...they would have gotten all out of order,
and I think that would have overwhelmed me.

So...I started at the top of the box,
spread them all out and put them in holiday order for each year.
Holes punched to accommodate the binder rings, ribbon tied to those rings and it was done.

I have been wanting to do this for years and I am so happy that I started this project.
And to answer Marie's question from yesterday...
I don't really go anywhere, I have all the time in the world and I use it wisely!

That could keep you busy for a few weeks, at least! And then you need more bookshelves.

Oh my, that is a lot of cards you have treasured! To think from the age of 18 until now.....how fabulous! I have saved my cards from my husband and girls, too. I will have to do something about collating them and putting them all together. Debbie, you have inspired me.

Your idea is certainly a good one.

I certainly love this idea, I have mine in boxes, and look at them from time to time but they would be better to have them all on a ring, thanks for sharing!
