The House Sparrow

He is so often overlooked...
he is not as flashy as most birds and yet he has a beautiful feather pattern and lot's of colors.
Light and dark brown, gray, and the unmistakeable black bib.
Also called the English Sparrow because it was introduced from England,
it is the most common Sparrowlike bird in cities!

Dipping one toe in and checking out the water...

It is important to place a rock in the center of the birdbath,
most birds will jump onto it in-between splashes.

Drying off...I have seen a lot of these House Sparrow's this summer,
bathing in and drinking from the bird bath!

Your male House Sparrow is a handsome little chap indeed. Sadly, it is in fairly catastrophic decline throughout Europe.

The humble sparrow also deserves to be photographed. You closeups are superb.

Hello, pretty captures of the House Sparrow. I do not see them often, they seem to be more in the cities. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

Every bird we see is special! We haven't seen any sparrows lately but we have lots of house finches and a cardinal family right now! Love your photos! Hugs!

I love the colors on this lovely English Sparrow. You got some fantastic photos of this delightful bird in the bird bath. I didn’t now that they would enjoy a rock in the center of the bird bath. It’s good know; if we ever get one again.
Loving thoughts and hugs!

Oh he's adorable!!--(thinking he's a "he" and not a "she"?) I know...people think sparrows are so common, "just" common, but you are right--such pretty feathers and patterns. Love your close-ups and how he's testing the water and then goes right in and enjoys it! I always enjoy your bird posts and hope your week is going well.
