All gray with a black cap...
the undercarriage is a reddish-brown patch at the base of the tail.
Catbirds are named for their meow call, which sounds just like a cat.
They also mimic the calls of other birds, but repeat each imitation only once.
Camera in hand, I was waiting for the Hummingbird...
this Catbird appeared in front of my lens...
a sweet surprise for sure - someone from Texas - her favorite bird.
If your reading Theresa...every time I see a Catbird, I think of you.

Hello Debbie!:) Yes! This bird, and the Whistling Ducks remind me of Theresa. Love your shots of the extremely attractive Catbird.:)
Hello, awesome closeups of the Catbird. They are fun birds to have in your yard, I enjoy all their calls. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
These are super shots Debbie ... I can almost reach out and touch the feathers.
Amazing!
All the best Jan
Wow! These are great close-ups. I do have them at my feeders. They enjoy the raisins I had put out for the Robins.
That is a new one on me. I have never heard of those. Great catch on these shots.
We do not have Cat birds here. Wouldn't it be fun to hear a bird "meowing" out in a tree?
cute bird
What a lovely bird and I liked your explanation. I really like the gray color and again you always capture it's personality. You are amazing! blessings and hugs~

Good Thursday.
Besos.
I have only seen them in Oklahoma. Never here. I do like this time of year as the birds are migrating. I love listening for new bird calls. Lovely pictures today Debbie.
Wow you got some amazing close up shots of this beauty. I went on Wikipedia and heard what they sound like and I think I have heard that before but not sure I have seen one, and not by our feeders down here in Southern Illinois.
Love your second photo especially. I don't think we have catbirds here in Iowa, but I have been seeing hummingbirds. It's a beautiful time of year.
Little, cute and curious =)
No feeders up, but they do visit the lilac bushes every year. Except this one! They were here in June, 2016, last I reckon. Happy to see yours!!!
Grape jelly -- that's wonderful. First saw them in Florida -- had read about but never seen or heard and could hardly believe that call! Terrific capture.
I don't think I've ever seen or heard one of these, Debbie.
He sure is a little cutie, and I'd love to hear the "meow" sounds they make.
Have a wonderful weekend!
xo.
