The Bottle Tree...

For as long as I can remember I have wanted a bottle tree,
I'm not sure why!
I find them to be fun and whimsical.
I like different colored bottles, but blue is reported to be the best.
I adore how the tree looks and how the bottles glisten in the sun.

I have been talking about making this tree all summer.
I have been collecting bottles and saving some some dead tree limbs.
I made friends with a few bartenders,
who loved my story and went through their recycling containers,
to find some special bottles for my tree.

My best score was in Hershey, Pa.
and fyi, woman bartenders enjoy the story much more than men.
(You can't make this stuff up!!)

Finding dead tree branches that were sturdy enough to hold the
bottles was not going well, nor was the bottle hunt...
so...I turned to amazon and there were many "trees" to choose from.
I did not want to purchase a tree but I had no choice,

I ordered it,
it came and I was somewhat happy with it.

Next were the bottles and that search was not going as planned either.

I found these in A.C. Moore for one buck each,
so I caved in and purchased them.
I wanted color and this was a great variety,
and although they are vases, they do work well.

So here it is finished, nothing went as planned,
I wanted it to hold more bottles but
it has satisfied my bottle tree itch, for now, so I will move on.

i handmade mine a few years back out of a wood post and misc items. the ground got soft with rain and the wind blew it over, smashing several of the bottles. that ended my bottle tree fascination, too. :) glad you got yours put together. you can always change out the bottles when you get bored.

I have a bottle tree though not as pretty as yours. My colors are clear, brown and green...all I had. The tree is an old cedar limb and works well. It has evolved and in addition to bottles it now holds crone or fairy stones (rocks with holes) and some of Dad's spark plugs I found when cleaning his shop.

Well - I'd not heard of a bottle tree before ... and now I have.

You can get some amazing bottles and all sorts of colours. I like the selection you bought, the colours go well together ... and yes the finished result is pleasing.

I hope you enjoy the different colours the reflections will bring in the changing light.

All the best Jan

Beautiful coloured glass bottles need to be displayed, and in a group look super, but this is a fun and artistic way of doing it. I have never heard of, or seen this before, but it does look pretty.

Cool, I have not heard of a bottle tree before now, oh the stuff we learn from others :) You did manage to find some really pretty colors in the bottles, I don't know that I would have even thought of looking on Amazon for a tree, neat they had one that worked, I bet it is very pretty with the sun glistening on them!

Lovely bottle tree! I've always love them, probably because my grandfather had one in his yard for many years. It was even featured in the newspaper one time. I wish I had it, but it's now gone!

I like it, and it's really too funny, I've been admiring some of these myself, and I'm just about ready to put one together too! One of my favorites is a tree outside a restaurant where they actually have lights in each one too!
